the media in this country treats bigotry coming from a place of fear as a valid public position. eventually this leads you to the ludicrous place where “the muslim mayor of new york city shouldn’t attend the 25th anniversary commemoration of 9/11” is treated as newsworthy opinion

"This guy, I think, is just an in-your-face type of guy that — for lack of a better word — enjoys this kind of controversy. I'm just not in favor of him being around, so if he didn't come, I'd say great, we would go. But if he's going to come, I would venture to say a lot of people might not go," said Hughes, who is now retired and lives on Long Island. The grieving father said he disagrees with Mamdani's politics and expressed anger toward the mayor. "Just the thought of him there rubs me the wrong way," he said.

NEW: Meta has run dozens of paid ads that include explicit, AI-generated child sexual abuse material in recent months. Some as recently as this week. "These are ads that were reviewed, approved, and allowed to run by Meta, never encountering interference while the company collected the ad dollars."
