Trying to watch more cricket than I write about. 🏏 The next book is about Nancy Sharp [https://tinyurl.com/2736jaw4].

This one was a collaboration growing out of a terrific series of biennial colloquia organized with two far better scholars and really fun people. We shared some time with really generous established, and some very promising emerging, scholars--a privilege all around. #C18 #money #power

After that trip to #C19 #Stavanger it was back to JamesII/VII to George I #Ireland and the man of whom the English despaired, complaining that The Angel of St Patrick's is now guardian of the kingdom. Not #Swift but the Abp of Dublin, a great theologian and stubborn Irishman. #booksky #theology

Kitty Kielland's take-no-prisoners entry into the debate about the role of women in the church. It was obviously written in a hurry. She misattributes Bible passages, gets some names wrong. But I wasn't trying for a scholarly edition, just her righteous indignation. Depressingly, still relevant.

Back to my first publisher for the next book, a look at maybe my favourite poet. Resulted in a couple of @rte.ie interviews and some really positive reviews in Irish print media. So a lot of fun. As always, I probably learned more writing it than readers did reading it. #booksky #Irishlit #poetry

Locals used to call the cliffs at Dedwick 'the place of a thousand skulls'. Given that the clifftop cemetery was collapsing onto the beach below, it wasn't an unreasonable name. Even now, storms sometimes pull bones onto shore, feeding it new ghosts. – #MattAdams, 1981

It might even be profitable. I heard on a podcast former Sussex CEO saying 2k was minimum to cover costs, excluding members. Recent games have certainly exceeded that with sold out out grounds.

Goodnight from Beryl Brewer, wishing the cleaning supplies for the County Museum weren’t stored in the basement next to a room labelled Bone Depository. Goodnight from the cloud pond on Weland Hill, where a Harrowhound pack has come to slake their thirst. Goodnight from Hookland.

We drive darkening, ghosted roads. In these last minutes of solar alchemy, every turn is towards folklore. We become one with the land's long memory. One with a hodology where every traveller is another time's temporal shade. We become high strangeness. – #DAKilroy, 1982

Those feral churches – beyond diocesan office, enjoying green communion – call the imagination. Even before visiting, we've a knowing their ivy-blinded windows, their ghost-congregation cooled interiors, refuse this barbarous heat. Offer spirit-shaded sanctuary. – #DAKilroy
