"But that's not the point, the point is they gave the press bait and they should have been ready for that by....just....by just...saying and doing everything the press accepts while they constantly move the goalposts!"

At least in 2016-19 it felt somewhat organic, even as it was almost entirely Morgan McSweeney and pals feeding drivel and bullshit to the press and mobbing together with a gaggle of deeply unpleasant right wing cranks. This time, the press are fully radicalised to screaming rage immediately.

Not for the first time, I’d ask: what does it mean, if the press keep running campaigns claiming that country’s most horrific racists and bigots are the Green Party, the Labour left, Amnesty International, Stonewall, the police (I know) and Gary Lineker? Look around you. Does that feel right?

CAMILLA LONG
Jew-baiting Greens haven't peaked: they're just getting startedIt's strange having a fully fledged, fully funded racist party in our political line-up. It does not comfort me that in Holborn & St Pancras the Greens "only" got nearly 9,000 votes. If the British National Party, another party defined by a racist lie, had won that many votes in any constituency, there would be pandemonium. There would be riots. There wouldn't be amused, jocular analyses in all the main papers. Its leader wouldn't be ushered on to the Today programme as a senior statesman for a light dressing-down by Nick Robinson.
He wouldn't be allowed to repeat propaganda as Polanski did (he sounded as if he was reading lines from a piece of paper). He wouldn't be greeted with a comical, indulgent shrug.
And if I were a Jew in Holborn, or anywhere, watching this, what would I now be thinking? I would be thinking: I now know precisely how many of my fellow constituents want to kill me. Is anyone doing anything to protect me from them?
Just look at the recent hate crime statistics. Jews are now almost ten times more likely than Muslims to be the targets of a religious hate crime. So no one is stopping it. No one is even touching it. This is an unacceptable place for politics to have reached.

Your regular reminder that my daughter Alice’s death wasn’t counted in Appleby’s report, despite her meeting all the criteria. And when I emailed the Tavistock adult GIC to inform them they could take Alice off the waitlist, because she’d died by suicide, they never replied. It’s a disgrace.

QueerAF can reveal figures that show 618 people have died while under the care of an NHS gender clinic, at least 21 by suicide. www.wearequeeraf.com/the-deadly-t...

You do have to understand that as Robinson tried to lecture Polanski, he was yelling both against the views of a plurality of the British public and on behalf of a shrinking minority, overrepresented at the top, using muscle-memory talking points that are rapidly self-disqualifying.

This is something I was thinking about wrt Nick Robinson’s hectoring of Polanski. Polling has shifted so drastically on Israel in the US in three years that if the next Dem Presidential candidate is even pro-Israel, they will be the last. The UK is on a similar trajectory, and will follow the US.

We will look back in the future on Israel's domestic political and media allies in the same way we look back on those sycophantic supporters of Rhodesia and Apartheid South Africa today: as creeps, losers and deniers. It's only a matter of time.

Noooooo, you don't understand, the purpose of a political party is to patiently fence-sit their way into power, and then sell out what little principles they have left to become the junior party in (and absorb all the toxicity of) a right-wing coalition for a 5p carrier bag charge.

Some people here don't seem to have understood the purpose of a political party. It's not the same as a protest movement. It is a vehicle designed to get into government, to change legislation and make a material difference to the lives of people at home and abroad.

I’m not sure that this is true. There’s no obvious non-disastrous replacement, and the whole purpose of this system is to prop up the status quo, no matter how bad and horrible it gets. That tends towards a furious effort to prop the fuckers up, at any cost.

A fascinating editorial decision from the BBC, to make the headline a scaremongering “AUTISM AND ADHD ARE BEING OVERDIAGNOSED”, and then, four bullet points later, have the author of the report quoted as essentially saying “nah, that’s bullshit, actually”.

ADHD and autism at risk of over-diagnosis, says report, as author warns of rise in mental ill health
Summary
• An official review in England finds there is a risk of people being over-diagnosed with
ADHD and autism - three key findings from the report
• As well as neurodevelopmental conditions, the review looks at mental ill health, particularly in younger people. Our health correspondent explains the difference
• It was commissioned earlier this year after Wes Streeting, then the health secretary, said there was an "over-diagnosis" of mental health conditions
• Speaking to Radio 4's Today programme earlier, review chair Prof Peter Fonagy said Streeting was "with respect, completely wrong"

Say what you like about Boris Johnson, but - for whatever dumb, disastrous reason - lots of people wanted Brexit, and he delivered. Who wanted scything benefit cuts and Draconian crackdowns? Nobody that voted Labour, which is why they and all of their media allies had to lie like fuck about it.

I’d be happier to consider this if there had been any honest analysis and contrition for, say, Labour winning power on a secret plan to implement scything cuts and institute Draconian crackdowns, all of it aimed at impressing a section of the electorate that simply *does not exist*.

A promising future now looks perilous for election loser Zack Polanski. He sowed, now he reaps | John Harris

There was a real chance of a Green byelection win in Holborn and St Pancras. He made bad decisions and cost his party dear, says Guardian columnist John Harris

The problem with doing that math is that then you'd have to acknowledge that doing that same math, Israel has done about 320 x 9/11s to Gazans from Cast Lead to the end of 2022, and about 3500 x 9/11s since 10/7 (and that's going off only confirmed deaths, not counting undiscovered under the rubble)

Thomas A. Fine@thomasafine.bsky.social · 3d ago

And yes, 10/7 is Israel's 9/11. Except that 10/7 was in many ways far far worse than 9/11. One way to understand this is to observe that 48,000 Americans being murdered is the proportional equivalent to 1100 Israelis being murdered.

When someone on the left says they can't stomach Labour and can't vote for them it's seen as a big problem with THAT voter and they shouldn't be such a childish nasty little shit, When someone says they can't stomach a leftwing party and shan't be voting for them it's the PARTY that needs to change.

So, Jeffrey Archer got into Oxford on the back of made up A level results and a non existent degree from an American university. Interesting to compare the different reaction from media and politicians to that which was handed out to Professor Jason Arday.

I note that all of this analysis has been *completely unaffected and unchanged* by Israel embarking on a programme of genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and Lebanon that the white people world has non-negotiably supported. That simply is not a factor, at all.

Zack Polanski had the chance to show real leadership. He blew it | Rafael Behr

A toxic debate over anti-Zionism leaves the Green leader looking like a passenger in the movement that carried him to the top, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr
