Wild to me that "They were nice to some of their friends and colleagues" is a telling character reference for someone with a Wikipedia page like that. He didn't just write unpleasant things as some sort of edgelord, troll freedom of speech satire - he did unpleasant things as well.

Early Noughties, pre-Springwatch, Bill presented the annual short-lived @mojomagazine.bsky.social Pub Quiz. It was in a dark period of his life, battling depression, but he was great; funny, acerbic, steeped in weird rock lore. A short gig but his daughter Rosie later told us he loved doing it.
