Okay so we all know this book massively obfuscates her actual assets etc but also, listening I’m like… how am I supposed to sympathize with someone making financial decisions that are this shockingly stupid?

I poked around Goodreads and popular negative reviews of this book have been DELUGED by defenders.

Personally, I was relieved when schools closed in 2020 because my mom is a teacher and I didn’t want her to die.
When disabled people/many people who work on disability/health pointed to the dangers of this kind of framing since COVID, they were usually mocked ("oh you think everything is eugenics") or ignored. But normalising the idea that the deaths of disabled people are desirable/reassuring is dangerous.

Barnett@ericacbarnett.bsky.social · 2w agoThe Seattle City Council just voted 6-3 to approve Joy Hollingsworth's amendment to delay universal school lunches for kids, replacing them with vouchers for qualifying low-income parents to buy groceries over school breaks and weekends. Eddie Lin, Alexis Mercedes Rinck, and Rob Saka voted no.
Watching GRIFFIN IN SUMMER and basically screaming with laughter throughout. Every choice is so perfect... its understanding of the horrors of adolescence, horrific artist behavior, the lure of hot dumb men... I am in awe. Everett Blunck (also great on THE AUDACITY) is a prodigy.
“If this was true, I would be in jail” is not a real profession of innocence; it is a brag about how strenuously the state protects the male right of private sphere violence against women and children.

And how rarely those things happen to abusers, esp. high-status white male abusers.
