Cleveland Public Library is set to strike on 8/24. Their CEO makes $300k/year, CPL has spent $200k on lawyers & consultants, while library staffers don't make a living wage & many have second jobs--some starting salaries are less than they were in 2009.

Playing through winter weather was a primary concern for the MLS calendar switch, particularly for northern teams. But heat index will hit 110º for tomorrow's Nashville–Miami match. This is bad for fans and objectively much more dangerous for players than the cold. Fewer games in this is good.
On Thurs. mgmt required staff to attend training that started w/the director acknowledging the importance of our work, then the presenter saying "The most important asset of any library goes home at night." On Fri. they refused to agree to wages that would barely cover the cost of living increase.

SCOOP: 404 Media placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it. What did we find? It ended up at an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books. Yes. This is literally the logo outside the Amazon warehouse door. Read now:

Hey, guys, when the librarians get pissed about the destruction of books, it’s time to put those listening ears on. Because we are very comfortable with the idea that books are tools that can be retired. What’s happening right now is not that.

0 points but we still have 36 ACLs, so I’m considering this a win. #Crew96
I am still of the mind that for the sake of player safety we should forfeit games in Charlotte. That place is cursed and is nothing but a hellscape on player health. #crew96 In other words, who do you think we are going to lose for a period of time because of that field?
If one additional Crew SG has the courage we can have a quorum and per Robbie’s Rules get this fuckin’ thing over with. Looking at you, Arch City Capers.
No VAR review from the international space station video feed this time?

November will be here before you know it. Take nothing for granted, Ohio... Visit www.ohiosos.gov/elections to check your voter registration status, register to vote if you haven't, and get info about early/absentee voting. Don't assume everything's good because it was the last time; things change.

Well, it's not like Ohio voters will be mad about this -- I'm sure they love Big Pharma billionaires and hate people who suffer from Alzheimer's.
New reporting reveals Ohio Republican Gov. candidate Vivek Ramaswamy hired his mother to manipulate clinical trial data for an Alzheimer's drug he owned the rights to. This scheme boosted Ramaswamy's company stock price and generated a $1.4 B IPO, where he then cashed out before the stock tanked.
If you’re voting by absentee by mail, please consider doing as absolutely quickly as you can. In Ohio, if you send in your application now, your local BOE will mail you your ballot on 10/6. If you mail it back right away, they’ll tell you if it’s accepted & you’ll have ~3 weeks to correct mistakes.

Also, "these statistics show that roughly 3% of ballots are rejected over this" is definitionally enough to create standing based on likely future injury.

I emailed a library asking for a small but annoying favour, and they did me a big favour and it's provided absolutely crucial data for a new project and publication, and slopAI could never and yay for humans, and librarians and archivists in particular.
