This definitely seems like something worth noting, and illustrates the gap between Fable/Astra class models and the previous frontier that was "merely" good at hacking under human instructions. Initiative, creativity, whatever-you-want-to-call-it by capable models changes things
Computer: say it. say the words. Me: can we not do this today? Computer: we do this every day. say it. Me: (*sigh) I would like to stay logged in on this device Computer: (*chuckling)
Would like to see this on every social media website, and I’m glad we’re calling it what it is now
Oh my God, this is not a drill - LinkedIn has added 'seems like AI slop' as an option on posts Genuinely thought it was a joke until I clicked on a few posts
I did not have this in my bingo card this year: "DeepMind dismantles AlphaFold team in strategy shift" #Alphafold #AI #Biotech #DeepMind
I'm not letting AI horseshit maneuver me into a defensive position with my writing. I write like I write. I love emdashes. I keep using emdashes. Whatever we write, AI will take and copy it -- all you can do is keep writing the best shit you can write in the form you want it to take, and fuck it.
Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...
Kids school asked for scientist-parents to come in and talk to kids about science and im sitting here thinking, what's the point? What STEM career could these kids have with the way science funding has depleted and unis are being defunded across the world?
AI event flyers are ruining my life cause I didn't know I had so many friends with bad taste
not really surprised to learn that terminal stupidity and racism is the reason i can’t walk into a CVS and just buy a toothbrush without flagging down the one person who might be in the store dannykatch.substack.com/p/we-used-to...

The answer to "why does everything suck now" almost ALWAYS goes back to "venture capital." Which goes back to "a lot of people have too much money and don't know what to do with it." Which goes back to: "We need to tax rich people more." It's like it's the solution to 99% of our problems!!

it is my opinion that one should tread carefully when using generative ai in human to human communication. or just don't. or at least tell it to stop using rounded boxes and putting tons of words per slide. #ismb2026
A highlight from #ISMB2026! Dr. Maryann Martone delivered her keynote, “AI and Ontologies: The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship,” exploring how AI and ontologies can work together to advance biomedical knowledge discovery. dknet.org/about/blog/2... #AI #Ontologies

Multi-agent AI enables evidence-based cell annotation in single-cell transcriptomics
Cell type annotation remains a critical bottleneck, with current methods often inaccurate and requiring extensive manual validation, particularly in disease contexts. While large language models (LLMs...

Seen on the way to breakfast. I might not exist if it weren't for the first iteration of this sign, it convinced my grandma to become an army nurse (where she met my grandpa in the Philippines). #ismb2026

If you are a researcher that uses slop machines to create figures for your talk, you are embarassing yourself
Fascinating perceptual story! So grateful I get to see colors that can’t be displayed on a screen all the time at Kua Bay.
I spent the last month obsessed with finding colors that can't be displayed on a conventional screen. This is what I found. moultano.wordpress.com/2026/06/19/w...
