I just really hope there’s 5 pages on Count Binface in the next LRB
Shitty news about friends coincidentally as I finish (re)reading The Player of Games. Their bravery & Gurgeh’s (spoiler!) defeat of Azad via play gives me hope that the cruelty mind virus can be fought. hard to believe the former trillionaire has read the books he names his robot barges after.

The design profession is sort of in the position that newspapers were around the end of the aughts. Reeling from the end of a good run. Not in the right mindset to confront the structural changes, even though the work remains as necessary as ever.
Feels very on national brand that our Prime Minister is defending himself against an intervention nobody wanted from a former PM nobody asked, as part of a campaign nobody has actually clearly stated is happening, for a role he already has, and will probably not be asked to reapply for.
