Was planning to take a half day today so I could run some errands and do some chores. BUT... life happens, so I'm only taking 2 hours off and going home to do some chores and read.
This is particularly relevant for the Twin Cities which has had weird weather today, but also everybody else. The reason your weather apps are getting glitchier, is bc. NOAA got eviscerated and can't sample atmospheric conditions as much. The data is worse for everybody.

First day of the semester! I'm already tired but there is still much to do before I can go home. It's nice to have all the students back on campus.
Days 4, 5 ,6, 7, and 8 of requesting to become part of Canada got missed because I am trying to keep my head above water. Canada, take our land and taxes and let us in please!

Hello Monday! Gonna take this day and make it mine. Started with coffee, doing a trial run for back-to-school tomorrow, and answering a boatload of email. This afternoon is expense reports, website code, and more email. Hope you all are well!
Dear faculty, Libraries everywhere are under-funded. Especially your institutional library. Please do not request that your library purchase an expensive resource, get confirmation that it has been purchased, and then tell them that you won't be needing or using it. We cannot get that money back.
I am not ready to face this day. I am exhausted and I have a headache. Gonna slam the rest of my coffee and some ibuprofen and hope for the best.

This. Libraries are places where HUMANS with EDUCATION and EXPERTISE help you navigate information and connect you with resources. Data centers are warehouses. Libraries are not warehouses. They can be repositories, but they don't just store. They're alive. Support the fuck out of the PEOPLE.

Is there a solid single website article / website dedicated to explaining why giving money to J.K. Rowling is a problem *that's aimed at people who are far out of the loop*? I'm still looking, but wanted to ask in case there's an obvious answer.

All I want for the coming holidays is for Canada to make Minnesota its newest province.
I just want our proxy server certificate to be valid and not throw errors in one browser but not another. Is this a big ask for our system admins? I don't feel like it's unreasonable. Really, I just want faculty to stop yelling at me and my team for something we don't control.
My day started out so well... and then I got into work. The SSL certificate for our proxy server expired. I am not sys admin, so while I am fully capable of fixing the problem myself, I am now waiting for someone in IT to answer my ticket request.

Twin Citizens: I would like to get quotes from contractors that can build BOTH decks and fences. Ridgeline Fence & Deck is an obvious one, but I'd like multiple quotes. Does anyone have leads on someone that can do both? The plan I have in mind really needs one-stop shopping.
New hire came back for day 2! I am trying not to overwhelm her with all the things which makes me extra glad the orientation schedule is spread out over 3 weeks. It's good for her to know what's coming and helpful for me to not jump fully into "do all the things" mode.
I forgot to post earlier, but I am rocking some new shoes at work today!
