the thing about public libraries is that they are—or at least many of them are—the one unrestricted public space in which children are treated with something approaching full civic equality with all other people. And they sense that. Our children’s room is the liveliest space in our library. 📚

maybe this is unpopular but I'd love libraries that kids aren't allowed in. truly don't want to be interrupted by running, crying, & yelling while i'm working/reading.

Took the teen shopping today, and we’ve come full circle fashion wise. I def made her try on an outfit I would have worn at her age at Hollister. The cologne also smells like unfortunate high school crushes

I will add as one of those Youth Services Librarians who has a master's in this field and who keeps current on research, parents who talk to their kids about what they read *while also* encouraging them to read widely produce great critical thinkers. Shouldn't be controversial but talk to your kids.
