I'm sorry but when did the conversation around unpaid domestic labor turn into "household chores are the bare minimum everyone does without complaint or expectation of thanks" but "communicating your needs and expectations to your partner is an unbearable burden that shouldn't be expected of anyone"
I told my kid I'd draw whatever he wanted and he chose Mosslax from pokemon pokopia
The secret most common use of glitter. WHAT IS IT. I don't buy that it's boat paint. Yeah some of those boats are very sparkly, sure. But the guy in that article was way too cagey about it for that to be what it was.
What's your personal great white whale of an unsolved mystery? The thing you desperately hope is solved before you die because you need to know the answer? Mine is the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum heist. Where the hell are the Rembrandts. I need the full story
You laugh but wait til Mitch McConnell pops up perfectly fine on the 4th on an episode of Hot Ones and then immediately dies trying to swallow an entire chicken wing whole
not to be all conspiracy theory but do fossil fuel companies fund all of hollywood or something because whenever there's a movie/tv villain who's CEO of some bad-for-the-environment energy company, it's almost NEVER oil. Mr. Burns, Quincannon from Preacher, the Elon Musk stand-in from Glass Onion
Realizing that for whatever reason in my mind I don't consider pokemon to be a video game. This isn't like some snooty "only hardcore gaming is true gaming" thing, either. Stardew Valley is a video game. Elden Ring is a video game. Candy Crush Saga is a video game. But Pokemon is Pokemon.
I hate to say it but if Fullmetal Alchemist came out today it would be absolutely eviscerated for the Ishval plot line and for allowing Hawkeye and Mustang to have redemption arcs and be presented as non-villains
I've seen this image going around on insta, and listen, no one hates AI more than I do. I hate what it's doing to the arts, to tech, to people's ability to effing think critically. THIS IS NOT ME DEFENDING DATA CENTERS. But images like this one are SO disingenuous.
The overwhelming right wing sentiment is that COVID was an engineered bioweapon that was also harmless. Trump overreacted to it by shutting down the country, then engineered a drive to create a vaccine that was the real bioweapon that killed millions, and it's Joe Biden's fault.
The lyrics to Stressed Out by 21 Pilots lose their impact somewhat when you realize the guy complaining about how he used to fantasize about having a cool job but now has to take a boring job to make enough money to survive, is, in fact, a pop star
The closest thing I have to a conspiracy theory is that the idea of a COVID lab leak wouldn't even be a thing except that a lot of people at some point watched the opening scene of the 1994 The Stand miniseries and it stuck in the public subconscious
The most common first name for US presidents is James, with a whopping 6 of them in our 250-year history. Second most common are William and John, with 4 each, followed by George, with 3, then Andrew and Franklin, with 2 each. Yes I am procrastinating doing literally anything useful how can you tell
"I think it's a shame nobody talks about [[thing we've literally been having nonstop discourse about for more than a decade]]"
To the best of my knowledge, Mitch has never faced allegations of untoward sexual conduct unlike the other four (Trump, Gandhi, JFK, and Jared Leto)
It can be simultaneously true that we shouldn't denigrate femininity AND the recent popularity of "oh so dainty pastel ruffle hair ribbon" aesthetics is directly correlated with tradwife shit and redpill misogyny and increased hostility towards "girlboss feminism" aka being financially independent
we need to teach console players that the thing they hate has a name and it's "DRM"
I have a 20-year-old Gamecube that still works like a dream. So up yours, asshole.
8yo: what are you doing? Me: reading a book 8: in your head? Me: that's typically how I do it, yes 8: can you read it out loud? *the book is Fourth Wing* Me: uhhhh it's a book for grown ups sorry 8: *nods sagely* oh. It's violent.
If I ever hear any of y’all mad at a baby for tiny eustaschian tubes, imma remind you of this person.
Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...
on day 5 of harassing comments and being called disgusting on a random instagram thread because I said people with ADHD might struggle with household chores and it's not always out of laziness or malice. Tried deleting the comment but it didn't do anything it's still there. No way to mute either.
If someone has any other disability that makes it harder to do housework, like chronic fatigue or inability to reach shelves, people would be expected to be patient or they're ableist and shitty. But the moment it's ADHD suddenly you have to keep your house spotless or you're literal Satan.
Working on two WIPs at the same time, one of which has a side character named Dax, and one of which has a side character named Jax, will surely not come back to bite me in any way
Just saw someone on Reddit who refuses to read any book with the Hero's Journey because Harry Potter uses it and therefore any story with the Hero's Journey in it is tainted by association. Sorry Odysseus you're cancelled now.
I can see Dorian genuinely enjoying certain parts of working in fast food, lovingly creating each perfect artisinal burger patty to please the customers, but sadly he's going to probably get fired for taking too long per burger. Tai would spit on the burger of the first rude customer she encounters.

I just cloned myself...as an old man. I fucked up. These organs are worse than the ones I have. I spent our entire savings on this and I didn't tell my partner.
My take on the coin flip discourse is that it's Sam Vimes Boots theory all over again. It's statistically a lot better to take your chances with the coin flip if you're already comfortably off but if you're poor and 50k would cover your mom's medical expenses I can see not wanting to take that risk.
