Pro-tip for any budding politicians: Saying "It's a distraction" when your opponents begin a policy directly targeting a minority, one which will reverse your own governments gains for that minority, tells everyone in or supportive of that minority that you didn't give a fuck then and you don't now.

Have they done a thorough proof of concept for AI in public service? No. But are they using it successfully themselves? Also no. But do they have clear plans for how AI will be deployed? No. This article would be hilarious if it wasn't devastating. www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...

The Government wants to replace thousands of public servants with AI – here’s what ministers think the robots do

Stuff asked ministers how they use AI, and what they think it can do to cut costs and jobs at their departments.

excuse me but how and why THE FUCK is this being promo’d as a top story on Stuff?? Absolutely fucking foul on so many levels. “We’re just reporting what was said” just doesnt fucking cut it anymore

There is a silver lining to this story, which is the judge stepped in when it became clear the jury were relying on rape myths. That's a direct result of the work Jan Logie did on SV law in Ardern's first term, and I love seeing it paying off - even if we clearly still have a long way to go.

Rape culture - we're all soaking in it. This jury went straight to the classics. What was the victim wearing? How sexually active was she? Education and information programmes are clearly needed to teach people about consent and help overcome victim blaming.

IT IS NOT THE JOB OF A PUBLIC BROADCASTER IN A DEMOCRACY TO REPORT THE NEWS IN A WAY THE GOVERNMENT LIKES. IT IS ESPECIALLY NOT OKAY FOR MINISTERS AND POLITICALLY-APPOINTED BOARD MEMBERS TO DICATE INDIVIDUAL EDITORIAL DECISIONS. THIS SHOULD BE FUCKING OBVIOUS.

hey so this is being delivered in the context of ICE we’re seeing that narrative play out across the west. and cabinet ministers, like Peters, have been specifically attacking immigrants this needs to be treated incredibly seriously as a human rights & civil liberties breach

Quick reminder that The Dawn Raids only targeted brown people at a time when our largest group of overstayers came from England.
