During down time, I will occasionally play a game of chess with students at school. I let one student who graduated this past Spring to add me on Chess.com so we could continue to play each other. Well, he has gotten so much better than me! Damnit Ahmed! Quit kicking my ass!

A good reminder that when you enjoy something someone has done -- a book they wrote, a performance they gave, a speech they made, whatever -- it is incredibly powerful to just reach out and tell them directly.

randomly giving out genuine compliments is such an easy way to make the world a little nicer, i'm always surprised more people haven't figured that out and have a ton of respect for those who have
