Happy Women’s Equality Day! Today we celebrate the adoption of the 19th Amendment, the women who fought to secure our right to vote, and the continued work for equality.
A good reminder that when you enjoy something someone has done -- a book they wrote, a performance they gave, a speech they made, whatever -- it is incredibly powerful to just reach out and tell them directly.

This is why I teach the Rogerian Argument structure to my 11th graders every year. It should be the way persuasive speaking/writing is taught around the country.

I think a lot of people do some version of that all the time!

It's caesarism, as in literally what Julius Caesar did to the symbolic architecture of civic republicanism. Our national iconography matters and allowing the disfiguring of it to persist is a substantive harm.
