It's OK to not like things. It's OK for other people to not like things. It's OK to like things It's OK for other people to like things. These are four separate categories. It's important to understand that preferences are just that... preferences.

But I really do think that there is an urge to not be "mean" or "unfair" or "negative" that is making us grope for rationalizations for why it is not just Correct but Righteous to dislike this person. (or book. or tv show. or or or) And it's actually okay to just... not like things.

I would not give the DNC money if I was on fire and they had the only bucket of water, man. I need to believe they're gonna do something useful with it and right now I don't. I'll give to candidates & organizations who earned that trust.

Worth remembering that Talarico raised so much money he just gave some away to other Texas candidates and Mamdani raised so much money during the primary that he told people to donate to Adrienne Adams. People aren't giving up on Ds. They just don't like the DNC. The DNC should think about that!

I suspect most writers have that one authority figure who was snide about their writing, allowing that writer to be fueled by spite for years if not decades. My version was the creative writing prof who was dismissive about science fiction. I sent him a copy of Old Man's War when it was published.

Hubby's been asking for grilled cheese for about a week. My price - he has to make me gluten free bread (because he can and I've yet to master the gluten free flour). Today, he finally believed me and I have bread, so we'll have grilled cheese for dinner

Today I got an MRI on my shoulder. That's a fun experience. First they tell you to "try not to breathe too much so the movement doesn't blur the pictures" right after telling you it's going to take about 15 minutes. Then they ask what kind of music you like, but the machine is too loud to matter
