Screaming "wtf" and waiting for a spontaneous uprising is going to discourage you. There won't be a spontaneous uprising. That's just not where the people are at. Organize for the long term. Build community. Build resilience. Have a strategy for whatever corner of this thing you're working on.

Given our incredible track record of regime changes e.g. Iran (wtf to fubar), Iraq (Saddam to ISIS), Afghanistan (Taliban to Taliban), I’m sure Venezuelans feel pretty good about their prospects.

If you’re wondering why your friends in academia are a little on edge right now, it’s because an eighteen-year-old who hasn’t done the reading, doesn’t look at the assignment, and has does no critical thinking skills more complex than “because I think it’s in the Bible” can literally end your career

The University of Oklahoma has removed an instructor who was accused by a student of religious discrimination over a failing grade on a psychology paper in which she cited the Bible and argued that promoting a “belief in multiple genders” was “demonic.” https://cnn.it/4b6g3rd

This is the now deleted teaser for the 60 Minutes report that was supposed to air tonight on the CECOT torture prison in El Salvador that Donald Trump sent hundreds of migrants to. CBS is officially a mouthpiece for the Trump administration thanks to Bari Weiss

It is utterly catastrophic that RFK Jr. plans to end CDC recommendations for most childhood vaccines. It’s a betrayal of science, ethics, compassion, and the people of the United States. And it was also a specific goal of Project 2025 (page 254).

Screenshot from project 2025 that says By statute or regulation, CDC guidance must be prohibited from taking on a prescriptive character. For example, never again should CDC officials be allowed to say in their official capacity that school children "should be" masked or vaccinated (through a schedule or otherwise) or prohibited from learning in a school building.
Such decisions should be left to parents and medical providers. We have learned that when CDC says what people "should" do, it readily becomes a "must" backed by severe punishments, including criminal penalties. CDC should report on the risks and effectiveness of all infectious disease-mitigation measures dispassionately and leave the "should" and "must" policy calls to politically accountable parties.
Conflicts of Interest. There was a time when the CDC could not take money

This year has been brutal for science, especially early career researchers and those working with communities further marginalized by this administration. Please read the experiences of these scientists. And when you’re done reading, find a way to fight back. theconversation.com/this-year-ne...

‘This year nearly broke me as a scientist’ – US researchers reflect on how 2025’s science cuts have changed their lives

US science lost a great deal in 2025, including tens of billions of dollars of federal funding, entire research agencies and programs, and a generation of researchers.

This administration specializes in fearmongering, not facts. The facts: 86% of trans youth report s*cidal ideation and 56% have attempted to end their lives. Anti trans laws increase attempts by ~72%. <1% report regretting GAC. If they are trying to protect children, science says they are wrong.

The US Department of Health and Human Services has terminated several multimillion-dollar grants—including one on early autism IDing—to the American Academy of Pediatrics following the association’s criticisms of the policies of its ghoul of a secretary, RFK Jr. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

American Academy of Pediatrics loses government funding after criticizing RFK Jr

Cuts, which affect projects focused on issues including early identification of autism, made without prior notice to AAP

Congratulations, those of you who decided to platform fringe voices and create a climate of fear and hate out of ignorance because those voices insisted a non-problem was a problem. They're now on an HHS stage trying to ruin children's lives. You will live with the harm you have done forever.

The similarities between RFK Jr and T Lysenko are chilling. RFK Jr will be responsible for so many deaths if he is not removed from office. The damage done under his leadership to CDC and NIH will take years to undo even if we could start today.

When I first met with RFK Jr. for this story, he told me his staff thought it was a bad idea. A few months later, he accused me of being a scorpion who had tricked him. But we kept talking. www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

They’re doing eugenics right out in the open now, largely because Trump, RFK Jr, Dr Oz and the rest of the fascists have been pushing a eugenicist agenda since they seized control. It’s white Christian nationalism and it’s dangerous. Disabled people are not “imperfect”. We are also not expendable

We (the world at large) are making enough fucking babies. We're cool on the babies. We need to start FEEDING the babies and VACCINATING the babies and WELCOMING the babies to various places, but we have babies out the wazoo. They just might have different melanin levels
