For #RandomGameSaturday this week, I pulled out Lost Kingdoms on GameCube, developed by none other than From Software. This had a cool, card-based battle system and ended up having a sequel a few years later which is a little on the pricey side these days.

I am mostly here for weird and interesting movies and videogames. Siarad Cymraeg 🏴. 私は 日本語を勉強 を する 🇯🇵. Unashamed lover of Iggy's Reckin' Balls.
For #RandomGameSaturday my hand drifted towards Kenseiden for the Master System - essentially Sega's take on a Castlevania game. I had this recommended to me by a friend when I started revisiting the Master System library a few years ago. It's robust, if difficult, and I've not beaten it yet!
Note to anyone outside of Wales sending emergency Government alerts to people in Wales, try sending it bilingually in one instance so that non-Welsh speakers don't have the bejesus scared out of them when it's Welsh only. I had to translate for my partner.
New video is up! It's a massively expanded and revised version of the first video i ever did, talking about the rival clubs of University of Tokyo Microcomputer Club and The Theoretical Science Group and how that informed games like Heiankyo Alien and the AX series. youtu.be/ZlHZoXpp0k0

Well, we did it - more than $250k for game devs who have been laid off, to be distributed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who donated their time, games, and money to help folks out in a time of need.
Alright y'all, this is it! The final stretch for the game industry hardship fund. We've got $13k to raise in 14 hours to meet the final goal, I think we can do it. itch.io/b/3802/game-...
A nice bit of stand-up about Sega in 1994 that approximately ten people will enjoy. If this is your jam (your Sonic Jam if you will) come and see me live. www.soozkempner.co.uk/gigs
I recently bought some new PC hardware so, of course, I gave it a run for its money by playing a 2013 hidden object game.
You may not like it, but this is what peak localization looks like (Asterix: Mega Madness (PS1, 2001))
I've made a game! A piece of interactive fiction, to be specific. A sci-fi caper, if you will. You can read about it here, and then play it in your browser (mobile browsers too)! kimimithegameeatingshemonster.com/2026/08/07/o...

We passed the initial goal in 4 days! So we've upped it - let's push forward to $200k!! Thanks to everyone for buying the bundle and sharing wherever you can.

Call of Ponchy: Mahjong Warfare has you using mahjong tiles to summon demons while battling schoolkids before a helicopter shows up to the tune of Ride of the Valkyries, and it's the realest, ultra low-budget, maximalist bullshit videogame I'm here for.
POINPY IS BACK! 🎉 And now it's FREE! No ads, no paid unlocks, just the full game. There's a tip option if you feel like it 😉 Available NOW on iOS and Android!

What I love to see on social media is people shouting "preserve physical media" by performatively posting photos of extremely common games haphazardly scattered on top of each other as if they were thrown out of double decker bus.
Not seen this point raised re: physical discs. Sony clearly banking on people being unable to afford to buy a PC thereby locking them into a closed PS ecosystem. They are hoping that people eventually become too invested in their digital library to seek an alternative by the time PS6 comes around.

1/3 of the game industry has lost their job in the last two years. Ubisoft closed two more studios today. Everyone is out of work. To that end I'm starting a new bundle to benefit a layoffs hardship fund. Game devs: please consider submitting your PAID games to the bundle, which will launch in July.
Yes, you really should just play Urban Myth Dissolution Center.

When you loved videogames but didn't have a console for a notable chunk of your childhood, Skunny *kind of* became the mascot platformer that was bestowed upon you but certainly not the one that you deserved.
it's hard to find a video game worth writing about at @1900hotdog.bsky.social because gamers are obsessive and everything's been done to death. but today i bring you something truly grotesque: Skunny Hardnut, which is somehow not a DOS porno game 1900hotdog.com/2026/06/nerd...

Think that if you played Dungeon Encounters and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes and paid attention, you've basically absorbed 90% of how to make a videogame. Both incredible deconstructions and retrospectives on whole genres and entire careers whilst also being perfect games in themselves
For my birthday this year my partner bought me 6kg of doughnut-filling jam. It was a good birthday.
