Developer of Ark Vcs. a Version Control System with games in mind https://ark-vcs.com

Tired of Git / Git Hub? Want to bring sanity and performance to your version control? Introducing Ark HUB! It is a spartan version control hosting solution for Ark VCS, aimed at high performance / reliability, currently supporting private repositories.

Welcome to Ark Hub, an official cloud service from the people behind Ark VCS. It is meant as a fair take on cloud services, so we do things differently.

Ark Hub's goal is to run high performance and availability Ark servers for those not interested in shelf hosting.

All servers come with 5GB for free. There is no price per user, the cost is purely based on extra storage. Ark licenses still apply, so if you have annual revenue / funding above €200.000, you'll need to get a business license.

If at any point you decided you want to self host, a zip with your server will be provided.

Your data is yours. There are no partners to Ark Hub nor any kind of AI training.

YESSS! This is the baseline latency we should expect from a CI pipeline. Nice to see what can be done when you're in control and not github actions or whatever. (The time it takes for the little package icon to turn white or red is the duration my VPS takes to compile and run a trivial c file)

looked a bit more into how Ark VCS has evolved, and there are really cool features! For example you can have your CI system annotate changelists (commits) with "build flags" (really build status). That will show a little icon next to the commit that can be clicked to open the corresponding build.

Quite often when using tools you don't really get enough information about what system resources it is using. This is something that specially bugs me when using resource heavy apps, so from the next version of Ark VCS it tracks all its resources in real time. #gamedev

Here are the cool Ark VCS icons from my post yesterday: You can specify path rules in Ark that map to names and icons, so when you're looking at the history you can easily see which commits have certain types of content. It's mostly a fun thing for now but I think it can become quite useful. :)

Kind of curious about "Cool Ark VCS icon hookup". Does ark support some form of integration by engines?

Been using ark-vcs.com for a few weeks now. Not done anything advanced, not even branches. But it seems like a better version of Perforce. Hopefully it gets more users and more active development. I'm happy to not be using git for hobby stuff anymore.

Ark VCS

Ark is a new version control system built from the ground up for performance and ease of use. It comes as an alternative to Perforce and Git focusing specifically on being able to support big complex projects with binary files, such as the case in video games.
