I just bought a new domain on @marque.at because I support the ATmosphere! Also very interested to see what atproto enables for domains at this layer :)
I have extremely {mixed feelings} news: 2020 tech twitter (complimentary) is back
🎉 After 2 years of building it off and on, my side project app is done: Habik: Life Manager! The premise is that you can do hard things. Break them down, and take them one day at a time. Habik takes the guesswork (and the self-negotiation) out of what to do today. apps.apple.com/us/app/habik...

there is a certain type of problem which is low in difficulty but wide in scope, and llms have supplanted open source as the default approach in such cases

honestly Anthropic made me look like a real jackass in front of my non-technical wife and children in the past 24 hours for the lengths I went to in order to keep my agents hot
uh, i hope this is unnecessary advice, but please don’t change vacation plans based on Fable access, it’ll keep getting extended
there exist feasible (and I’d argue, likely) existential crises software developers may have to endure that will be inarguably good for us
Reports of ego death have been greatly exaggerated
This is what I deeply believe marriage should feel like and pray everyone’s does Its an amazing and beautiful thing to have a relationship that’s just constantly discovering new limits of love
Yesterday was the three year anniversary of @devingaffney.com and I getting engaged. And next week will be two years married! Every day I am even more obsessed with him, it is sick (derogatory)
The next atproto.la event will be on Sunday July 19th from 11am-1pm, hosted by the very generous @crashspacela.bsky.social!

This might be the first time in my TWENTY YEARS OF DEV that I have EVER seen serifs in a terminal Why…just…WHY WHY?!?!
Working on my own coding harness. It seemed inevitable. Maybe I'll write a better readme tomorrow, but the tldr is you should be spending your time using it designing the spec and answering questions about the backlog, then when the agent is working, it can do so for long periods without you.
Incredibly salient point about parenting
“Why couldn’t you leave the eldest at home if you knew it wasn’t going to work?” Ultimately you have to try, right? Maybe they surprise you and they have a great time. It’s happened before. Not often, but if you close off all opportunities for it to happen you guarantee that it won’t.
I feel like I’m developing AI psychosis but for incredibly boring and deterministic workflows Literally make Luna my ADHD coach and force it to write cron jobs that poke me to finish email drafts
I wrote this originally a few years ago as part of a previous role, but was able to republish it as part of my own site. Updated, and hopefully it's still relevant! dominickjay.com/writing/impo...
Imposter Syndrome and the “Actual, Real, Developer”
Why does an industry full of creative, successful professionals make so many of them feel like they're just getting away with a con?

I’ve got NPC syndrome I yearn for deterministic decision trees
"Houses as investments" are a major political evil in the countries with this problem (US, Canada, New Zealand, UK, at least). They pit the interests of older voters, whose homes are often the majority of their net worth, against younger voters.
The next interactive essay from @samwho.dev is about k8s probes, but even starting it took… 90k lines of TypeScript. Here's webernetes episode 3: the first demo of a cluster in a browser tab. Deployment controllers due in 3 days, when Sam's summer holiday starts ↓ www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxo3...

While I’m very excited for recent Deno developments, and extremely grateful they exist in the ecosystem, this pitch line perfectly encapsulates why I struggle to use Deno - legacy codebase I maintain? Node - fun side project for 1 user? Bun I want the universal incumbent or max instability and fun
Deno is back on Bluesky! 🥳 Also their new website (deno.com) looks great and finally has benchmarks against Bun, now that Deno 2.9 pulled ahead in most of them. I also love the line in the header: "Faster than Node; more stable than Bun."
Just finished building a thing to replace loom. Working on a post about how it works, but here’s an intro to what it does… danny.is/writing/loom...

OpenAI employee: "How did the obvious and inevitable result everyone predicted happen?!?!"
