#a11y folks, any specific guidance on elevation/layers for accessibility? I’ve found design systems (material 3, US web, atlassian, others) that limit to 4-5. Specifically looking for any further research on acceptable number of layers.

Very interesting, and I wonder if this plays into assistive technology announcements?
Acronyms are pronounced as words. -scuba -laser -NASA Initialisms are pronounced as individual letters. -NFL -TSA -TGIF 'Acronym' is frequently used for both kinds of abbreviations, so it's ok to call an initialism an acronym.
@magictavern.bsky.social I am listening to today’s episode (Usidore’s Team Part 2) and almost spit out my breakfast multiple times from laughing.
It would be cool if C2E2 didn’t treat GA folks like sheep in a pen. Perfectly happy to take our money and then even more happy to let us stand around for hours well past the scheduled time we signed up for.
Sending @deesnider.bsky.social some healing vibes. He’s been a bedrock of a cultural movement that helps me survive, and he’s a super nice, down to earth person above it all.
Can confirm these perfectly articulated points, having worked in higher education for 11 years, part of which as a union president.
Having volunteered and worked in academia (admissions, FA, alumni, and in advancement [working closely with executive leadership]) for about 20 years, it is quite difficult to express how truly dark the underbelly of academia actually is.
And people outside of academia don't appreciate fully, I think, how the people whose names are in these documents are *still* important people with a lot of power in the field to determine whether people at other schools get promotions and tenure Like I'm taking a risk every time I post about this

I would bet any money the NRA and its bitch posse is terrified of ICE.
Friendly reminder, the NRA is not a gun rights organization, it is a group of lazy imbeciles cosplaying as slave owners. It in no way represents the overwhelming majority of gun owners.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

I’m looking for anthropological studies about academia. Preferably ones that are not gate kept behind pay walls.

Just read “Capitalists Must Starve” by Park Seolyeon & @antonhur.com The title & blurb led me to expect a book about a factory strike... It is an absorbing portrait of Juryong’s whole life - its hardships, how she was treated as a woman, her resilience, determination & passion. A fascinating read!
