on metro north and just entered manhattan. thinking how people have been riding trains on these tracks into manhattan from the hudson valley and connecticut for 125 or so years now
planning on going to the french alps (chamonix) in September and see 2 reasonable options from nyc: (1) direct flight to geneva ($1040) (2) flight to paris then 3 hour train ride + airport to paris train station ride ($750 flight + $70-100 train). assuming not seeing paris which would you choose?
I enjoyed listening to Bill McKibben on Ezra Klein's podcast. Its refreshing to hear a strong case for a future of clean energy abundance and highlight a lot of positive energy trends. That said, there are a few points where I'd add nuance to Bill's arguments. www.nytimes.com/2026...

I've got to say that I'm really disappointed in the recent discourse surrounding the RCP8.5 scenario. The lack of context and understanding is something I expected from the usual suspects, but it's frustrating to see such bad takes from people and outlets who should know better.

Chicago lost 19% of its Black residents! —All cities gained Asian residents, & those with 2+ races. —Most cities gained Hispanic residents.

Underground, Overground I love finding locations where you can see Underground trains traveling over Overground trains (or vice versa). This vantage point near East Putney station has beautiful views of tube trains traveling over the railway.
