The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.

Saw a post saying "I don't want NSFW accounts to talk about voting, just let me jack off" Buddy, NSFW artists and sex workers are being constantly attacked by a government of nonces trying to distract from their own crimes by pinning the blame on porn. They have the right to speak up about this.

I think solidarity with trans creators facing harassment is dead, I notice that a lot of trans women getting harassed are now just left to fend for themselves while ””woke”” ecelebs and “left” YouTubers bully them and ostracize them It’s so over

I do not think most people truly understand what this means together with the horrific push to ID "age verification" to tie your government ID and facial recognition to your online acrivity! We could essentially remove full groups of people out of digital space in a world that is highly digital

huge +2 to this if i was not given internet access as a child, i would've grown into a homophobic, transphobic, racist and generally bigoted human being.

The internet was my only haven growing up. I had unrestricted access and I saw things that were troubling, terrifying even, but I got to process those and become an adult who does not shelter in ignorance. If not for that access, i might still be in the cult and never know myself

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again

second this that i managed to overcome almost all attempts to restrict my internet usage both gave me the ability to escape severe child abuse and also to essentially pre-train myself for my career (i was a nerd)

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

these laws are being made to protect billionaires, isreal and the child predators in power even if this does pass I will vote for anyone who will destroy that awful law and charge the people responsible for it
