what i like about this method is that you can crank up the parameter and get a new look. for example, here the particles get scattered so much in the out-of-focus area that they appear disassembled instead of blurred.
Finally got the chance to try the dof with scattered particles method in this article I stumbled upon a week ago. inconvergent.net/2019/depth-o... This is just a simple test and not the exact same implementation, but I like it and will probably explore it a bit more.
me (netta) and @thelxinoe5.bsky.social made a game for trijam! that means we each had 3 hours to work on the game! thats not very long! #gamedev #indiedev

this jenga tower is very difficult! right from the start the tower is about as unstable as a late game jenga tower, and the margins for how it can balance are a lot smaller, so if removing a block even slightly drags the layer above it, it could fall
slightly spread apart jenga is pretty boring. its similar to skewed jenga in that blocks are a little easier to grab, but unlike skewed jenga which looks weird and is hard to read, slightly spread apart jenga just feels like jenga
skewed jenga is interesting. the way the tower balances is effectively the same as regular jenga, but the skew means the edges have blocks sticking out a lot more, so its much easier to grab pieces
this layout is probably my favourite one so far. in this jenga set, a sideways block is about 2mm shorter than 2 flat blocks. this means there is a slight gap, allowing the tower to wobble quite a bit. there are 4 points that are balanced on a single block like end game jenga
jenga has a shocking amount of replay value if you construct the tower differently. like having every other layer be 5 sideways blocks
I've published a brief blog explaining how this all works. martypc.blogspot.com/2026/08/exec...

Make it exist first... then leave it exactly as it is because quite frankly other tasks take priority sometimes. It's already good enough and nobody will spot that tiny mistake, and the fact that you created something in the first place is already an achievement
i kept making songs with #picotron and now i have an album i guess nettakrim.bandcamp.com/album/hexade...
