He's dedicated about guardrails being properly mounted because his 17 year old daughter was killed from an improperly installed guardrail that impaled her. He sued the company that made them but they wanted him to sign a gag order in the settlement and he refuses.
I've seen this happen in real time, not just here but other online spaces I inhabit, someone will post a picture and someone else says "hey is that AI" and sure enough the psychosis manifests and you'll get a bunch of posts after that picking apart EVERY LITTLE ELEMENT and honestly it's exhausting

People can’t critically identify real art any longer and so everything gets accused of not being original. I don’t know how we climb out of this hole.
There’s a reason we all fucking love watching sports together. It’s a fucking respite from yelling at each other about the horrors. Why not encourage more of that? We can still keep yelling at each other about the horrors. We can also have more variety in the respites.

So I think it's important to acknowledge that no, not everyone who passes away is worthy of respect or reverence. You don't get to be a total shitheel in life and then expect people to ignore that when you're gone.
With lockdowns in place in NYC there was practically no traffic on the highways save for ambulances. There was no noise on the roads save for one long uninterrupted siren's wail up and down the BQE. I was an essential worker. I went everywhere. I saw the refrigeration units. I saw the graves.

Richard Murphy@richardjmurphy.bsky.social · 3d agoI did an infographic on Marx recently. This seems like the appropriate follow-up. In one way or another, I used AI in creating this post. I also used a word processor, my brain, thinking time, coffee, discussion, and about 50 years of reading.
A funny thing about depression-- at least, my struggles with it, everyone is going to have different experiences-- is that if you can force yourself to do *one* good thing for yourself It can kinda break the spell and make you feel some modicum of self-worth. Sometimes that's all you need.
my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop
