He/him, in the UK. NB & ND. I occasionally make EBM/industrial music as Trellick. I hate fascists & bigots. Trans rights are human rights. I will never log off.

Unironically? I'd set it in the 1800s with Jaws hunting an old whaling ship. Show the horror of industrial whaling and the working conditions on those hellish floating factories, then have Jaws rip it all to shreds while toxic masculine whale hunters try and fail to kill something that fights back.

let's pretend: Universal announces a screenwriting contest for Jaws 5. What's your pitch?

those days when I log on and everyone is being mad about some internet pundit that I'm blissfully unaware of (usually it's an American politics opinion-haver) is a lot like when I go into the office and people are holding forth about The Match Last Night And What The Manager Is Doing Wrong

in the most Nick situation ever, I watched a DS9 episode where an unseen voice was encouraging characters to talk through their otherwise unspoken worries. I assumed it was building to a horror reveal that they were being manipulated but nope instead the moral is that talking helps work out feelings

Even the mainstream media pieces vocally calling out the nonce glasses from Meta are dramatically downplaying just how much men already photograph/video women and girls in any space they can without their knowledge/consent (deliberately? ignorance? not wanting endless "not all men" commenters?)

The one thing twitter was _really_ useful for was illustrating this, where as soon as any bluecheck commentariat arsehole got bodied, you'd see all their smug dinner party pals having a hugbox in the comments even if it was folk who you'd otherwise assume would be ideologically opposed to them

The UK commentariat and political class are almost exclusively a wealthy, politically powerful and insular group, many of whom landowners/landlords, and almost every last one of them despises the working class, minorities, migrants, queer people, and disabled people. That’s why they love Rod Liddle

developing a new theory kind of like carcinisation except it's about how every Guardian columnist either evolves into Adrian Chiles or instead branches off to be a reactionary right wing weirdo (you know, the ones who pretend they're very much not that) anyway, here's the latest Chilesisation

The headline of a Guardian column by Emma Beddington "My olive oil is uncool, apparently. Welcome to the world of microsnobbery"

okay yes I've stayed up far too late BUT a) this is my time to steal and b) the next two and a half weeks will be v stressful with life & work stuff, so being somewhat sleepy will help with that as things will be gently blurred around the edges and I don't _have_ any other coping strategies*

fess isn't mine, but someone once tried to scam me on insta like this. Joke's on them tho, I wasn't familiar with the person they were pretending to be but now I follow the person's real insta - not because their work is particularly my thing, but because they have cute cats and generally seem fun😻

My voracious consumption of porn has helped me in one aspect of my life - not getting hoodwinked by fake profiles on Facebook. "Oh look, it's Mia Malkova! She's using a pseudonym, I assume to protect her privacy. Of course you can have my bank details!".

Front 242 - No Comment->Official Version->Front by Front or Kraftwerk - Radio-Activity->Trans Europe Express->The Man-Machine or Pet Shop Boys - Please->Actually->Introspective (I'd actually accept nearly any run of 3 PSB albums without much argument)

What's the best three album run from a band? (the correct answer is Moving Pictures, Signals, and Grace Under Pressure by Rush, but I'm excited to learn second place)

This weekend has involved -an admittedly pleasant Saturday afternoon/evening -trying to deal with Ovo Energy's shitty chatbot to dispute a hefty bill that I have not incurred -discovering that a new phone I bought and planned to set up today does not, in fact, work So on balance: meh

Took clients out to dinner. The bill came and "it's on me!" so I took out my purse and looked for my company card. My kids had taken the notes and cards out of my purse and replaced them with sliced ham. An embarrassing situation saved by a phone wallet.
