I don't know, but I do have mustard-scented lip balm. I assume one could use it as lube if desperate.
Mustard flavored lube… is this something?

I have found my new favourite meme response for slopists. Ahahahahaha 🤣
I also know of an upcoming position at the airline for which my husband works. If you've got warehouse and/or supervisory experience, it might be a good fit for you. It's entirely an in-person position, third shift. #philly
Hey, #Philly area folks--if you have experience in social media and website management, DM me. I know of an open position; it requires 2-3 days per week in-office and a high EQ level.

Okay, sure--go ahead. I'm having quite a day and need to think about something that doesn't involve screaming into a dayjob-shaped void. Hit me.

Remember when the worm-riddled US Health and Human Services Secretary said the cyclosporiasis outbreak was "under control" two weeks ago? Uh huh. This article is from yesterday, & Michigan reported two related deaths a few days ago. I guess it's appropriate to associate the GOP with explosive poop.
CDC reportedly expands scope of US cyclosporiasis outbreak to 15 states
Six additional states caught up in investigation after Michigan reported first two US deaths linked to disease

Er... yeah. Some of us still have fully functioning brains and skill sets that haven't been degraded by AI/LLM reliance.
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
I was on a 2026 Stokercon panel titled A Survival Guide for Writers In An Age of Censorship and AI, so this is jarring. I mean, the writer has an AI app coming out apparently...so that makes it even worse. It's also a strange organizational choice just months before membership dues are charged.
There is a lengthy pro-AI screed in the latest HWA newsletter and it is . . . a mood.
So apparently that HWA pro-AI newsletter also uses Indigenous water rights issues as a prop, trivializing the activism by Indigenous peoples to protect our water including specific anti-data centre actions. I guess they figured why not alienate Indigenous horror writers while they’re at it?
Please tell me in not the only one getting text spam about these asinine Trump Hunger Games.

I'm rewatching Ted Lasso in the run up to the new season. It's clear that we need MORE Ted Lasso right now, so it's good timing. Positivity and kindness makes such a difference when everything else is such a shitshow.

I'm a few days late in reporting my films so far for the 100 Horror Movies in 92 Days challenge, but here are my first three: 8/1 - The Fog (1980) 8/2 - The Fog (2005 remake) 8/3 - Stigmata (1999) I have a few planned that are new to me, but for now I need the comfort of the known.
Today's harvest. Biggest of the summer so far. Believe it or not, there are still some beets to be harvested. I have a ton of beets and tomatoes this year. Currently figuring out what to do with them all. #gardensky
Recipe 3 of the #cookbookcookthrough! This is Crispy Sugar Snap Peas with Tonnato and Lemon. Rather than fry the peas, I used an air fryer. I mean, the idea of deep frying anything in a warm day is gross. Not a perfect solution, but still really good.

The new Table Manners column is up at Macabre Daily! This month I'm looking at #horror through the lens of colonizers and digestion, because the two are very, very connected.
TABLE MANNERS: The Empire That Feeds — Macabre Daily
Nicole Wolverton returns with this month's installment of TABE MANNERS. "The Empire That Feeds" explores colonialism as consumption and offers a fascinating take on the hunger for power.

I strongly suspect that I shan't be having dragon boat practice tomorrow. :(
Up to 4 inches of rain could fall in isolated areas on Tuesday, the weather service says.
Look, I don't deny that I have a gross sense of humor. My upcoming novel deserves a bit of a bad taste joke.
As an American citizen, how much have you had to compartmentalize? Go to work, do the food shopping, pay the bills, absorb the horrors of stochastic terrorism and Christofascism, living life afraid to scream because you know you won't be able to stop. You know, normal life.
I have a few days off coming up in September. I could potentially go somewhere. Nice, maybe, or Budapest. Or I could stay home and head to New York or DC for a day. Hmmm.

There are moments I feel like world's biggest schmuck. I worked on my tax expenses sheet today a bit as I was getting ready for my panel moderation gig and discovered a payment for an event that I had no memory about whatsoever & was freaking out. Turns out it's for 2027, & I'd forgotten it.
