I've seen several pieces of US media set in idyllic small towns with big fuckoff lakes that function as liminal boundaries between the Known and the Unknown in which a major character attempts suicide by drowning, and now I'm wondering if the Liminal Death Lake is just a thing US small towns have.

the pikmin page on TCRF cites a couple of don shnack's shorts about some unused enemy behaviours which is pretty cool but...why did they add the part about the sheargrubs/shearwigs taking damage in water? this can be seen in the final game when you go to the distant spring so it's not really notable

Unseen Enemy Properties

While not easily seen during normal gameplay, it's possible to crush Dwarf Bulborbs, Dwarf Bulbears, and Water Dumples, and their body will be visually squished to boot. This is done by either hitting them with the rocks fired by the Armored Cannon Beetle or by crushing them using Wollywogs
(gifs of an armored cannon beetle's projectile not harming a puffstool, flattening a bulborb, and pikmin carrying the flattened bulborb back to the onion)

Additionally, while most enemies in the game are not affected by being in the water, the Sheargrubs and Shearwigs are. When submerged they will lose health rapidly as if drowning. These aforementioned enemy properties were likely intended to be applied to other enemies in the game, but weren't either for time restrictions or gameplay restrictions, as there would be no point during normal gameplay where these properties would be seen. This mechanic would be seen properly in Pikmin 2, but the squash animation seen here is unique to Pikmin 1.

to this day my only problem with interloper is that the supposed hl2 xbox footage is still played with a mouse rather than on a controller. its very obvious with camera movement

every single nintendo direct is written like its advertising the first video game ever made. in this “game of strategy” you can choose to attack with swords [8 second clip of a guy attacking with a sword] or with spells [8 second clip of a guy attacking with a spell]

there are definitely downsides to the nuclear block but the reason I keep coming back to it as necessary and good is that it completely ruined the whole MAGA engagement model to the point that they prefer to mock us from the nazi bar rather than come here to troll us directly

Bluesky oldheads will remember that brief period of time when the conservative trolls tried to storm the place and were flummoxed by the idea they would have to organically grow an audience and that someone who didn't want to talk to them could nuke every interaction they ever had from orbit
