Banking bro turned developer (Next.js/SQL/TailwindCSS). Humanist, more or less. Ardent anti-imperialist, pro-intl liberal democracy.
I've been doing a huge study on the historical Jesus lately, pulling in academic books and journal articles, as well as trade books/popular books on the subject. Gotta say, no matter your religious persuasion (I'm agnostic), it's impossible to see the historical Jesus and not be impressed.
Win or lose, the fact that Hamilton has this election this close is big. If he pulls it off, he'll be the first Democrat elected Senator from Kansas since 1932...the longest Republican senatorial streak in the nation.
Kansas Senate race tightens as Hamilton, Marshall trade attacks
Adam Hamilton is challenging incumbent U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, and early polling suggests the race could be close.

I'm supposed to be afraid of this guy? Like...let's be real for a second. We all know a Zohran in our lives. That guy who is annoyingly happy, good at what he does, and not an asshole about it. You know, that friend who you really like, but secretly hate. And I'm supposed to fear that guy?
I'm listening, I'm learning. Safety first, NYC.
Incoming hot take: this is a sign the economy isn't strong, BUT, there's a possibility that this could become normal even under a healthy economy. www.npr.org/2026/08/07/n...
Amid cost of living stress, many parents are supporting children well into adulthood
Polls show most Americans think young adults today have it harder financially than past generations. A majority of parents help their grown children with expenses, even if it hurts their own finances.

By his reasoning, if I own property in New York and property in Florida, even if I live in New York 2 months out of the year, I should *have* to vote there. Apply the reasoning of college students to any other situation for people who live in two different states. How much sense does it make then?
Well, that's a new one. "College kids should be able to vote to overcome the wishes of the people who actually live in the place where they go to school"
It won't make national news, but the Kansas democratic primary tonight was...interesting. It follows a national trend and should get the attention of the Democratic leadership. Corson was the establishment pick (and who I voted for). The more progressive Holscher won.
Thereβs a literal verse about not praying in public. Christians donβt know their own beliefs.
Rep. Lauren Boebert insists that public Christian worship events are necessary for America to experience revival: "I don't think that Jesus ever called for any Christian to pray only silently or to keep their faith hidden only in the prayer closet."

Elon Musk trying to sink a Christopher Nolan movie was honestly the funniest and dumbest course of action he could have taken. Heβs one of the most popular filmmakers alive and now it proves Elon and his fanboys have no real cultural impact outside of X
I just looked at this relative to my age andβ¦am I really that big of a slut? Apparently.
I actually don't think is far off from reality. 3B people in this world, and between people I know IRL and what TikTok has opened my eyes to. I think it's more common than we think.
This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.
I think the biggest problem now is everyone jumps to the most maximal end of every issue. Thereβs no room for nuance or middle ground or understanding. Left, right, being fucking stupid and doubling down is the go-to move.
Far right: -Install Trump as king -Deport millions of Black and brown people -Enact white Christian nationalism Far left: -Healthcare, education, food, water, & shelter are human rights -Tax billionaires -Demand separation of religion & state Centrists: Both are bad but the far left is far worse!
Grimly amusing Dem machines think they deserve some sort of entitlement hierarchy. My entire life, everything has been moving backwards, politically, democratically, bureaucratically, judicially. You are all failures. You are presumptively part of the rot that must be removed down to the root.
A lot of discourse since Tuesday hinges on idea that some politicians are owed a seat, itβs their turn & itβs problematic to not back them. & thatβs so odd to me β because not only you have to wait for 88-year olds to deign to retire, but then thereβs someone else waiting whoβs owed & you canβt run?
Whenever I hear someone claiming that USAID was evil from a leftist perspective, I hear someone saying βyes, millions ARE dying because Musk and Trump killed USAID, but at least theyβll die free of American imperialism.β Notably it is never the people saying this who are dying.
this is pretty resounding indictment of the democratic establishment. from endorsing Cuomo to voting to confirm Trump nominees to tons of aid to Israel, people are fed up and I canβt blame them. My question is if this is a high water mark or the beginning of something brand new
If your 80-year-old grandpa was insisting that the reason the backyard pool has algae in it is because terrorists are trying to make him look bad and demanding the police arrest somebody, you'd put him in a senior care facility before the end of the day.
This is the new mantra of the right. Being a racist isn't bad. But calling someone a racist is bad.
Dr Oz: "You're not allowed to complain about Somalians, because that's racist. And the worst thing you can be in Minnesota is a racist."
Man looks like a lazy-eyed state puff marshmallow man. He really shouldnβt be commenting on peopleβs appearance.
Todd Starnes says that if he were to moderate a debate for the Texas Senate race, he'd have one question for James Talarico: "Have you now, as a 37-year-old man, finally come to terms with your manhood? Or, do you sir, perhaps have an affinity for frilly underpants? What's up with that?"
Mayor @zohrankmamdani.bsky.socialβs plan to build 200,000 new homes, protect tenants, and invest in public housing will make this a more affordable city for New Yorkers. In Congress, Iβll be a strong partner for the resources to bring this vision to life. (1/2)
The last time white people voted for a Democrat, it was LBJ. Since then, theyβve voted republican as a majority. So we can blame various groups, or own up to the fact white people in the US are really racistβ¦at least the majority.
Mamdani is showing that pragmatic governance is possible and that bothers a lot of people in establishment positions.
When politicians say they can't hold corporations accountable, remember: they can. They just choose not to. www.reddit.com/r/WhitePeopl...
I read all these and more at my conservative classical college. I ended up an atheist and a social democrat. Soβ¦read away!
Why stay + fight? β’ bc I hate bullies. Trump, Miller, RFK Jr, Oz β they're bullies β’ bc I have skills and experience that are of particular use in this fight β’ bc I believe this fight is winnable, and the more of us who are in it, the better our odds
What makes it worth the fight for you, Matthew? Life I mean. Staying in the US. Anything. I did donate when you first posted this, Im just searching for my own shit so I thought this might be the best way to reach you random internet person
