Eurofurence 2 (1996) was the first to have internet. It came in the form of a 10Base2 coax cable run across the street to the nearby university's computer club and a single unix workstation with a text terminal on it. People used it to check email, usenet and say hi to their friends on furrymuck.

I've got a friend who works in cyber security, even he swears by Mullvad. Getting it set up and running took 5 minutes and they never asked for my name or even just an email. You get a number that you note down and that is all you will ever need. It's a great vpn.

For any UK friends curious about VPNs: Use Mullvad I’ve been sponsored by several others, but I consistently use Mullvad, who has a policy to never sponsor anyone They accept crypto or literally just cash in an unmarked envelope, and they were raided by the police yet never gave up any data

Found out today that Jun Masami's blog has been shut down, and their other blog is scheduled to lose support this year. Their websites catalog a large chunk of anime history, some of it belonging to lost media. If anyone knows how to crawl webpages, or just has free time, I'd appreciate your help

I don't normally share website content, but for an upcoming video I've been compiling and translating the diary/blog of a former assistant to Osamu Tezuka named Jun Masami, who has cataloged nearly every day of his life since 1965. It's an incredible read. www.lextorias.com/blog/jun-mas...

A note about science: We do not have all the answers. We devote our lives to pursuing the answers, and when we have enough data, we state, "we are pretty sure we have the answer." If we get additional data that makes us change our mind, we say, "We were wrong. Now we think this is the answer."

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain
