BREAKING: The RCMP and international law enforcement have arrested key leaders of three violent criminal organizations — including the Bishnoi Gang. "Operation Hard Ball" targeted transnational crime groups behind extortion, targeted killings, and the smuggling of drugs from the U.S. into Canada.

When people are impacted by crime, they deserve access to the supports and services they need to recover and rebuild their lives. This federal funding will help strengthen supports for victims and survivors of crime in B.C. and build on work already underway across the province.

People are feeling the impact of global uncertainty from U.S. tariffs & the war in Iran. Today, with Premier @Dave_Eby and colleagues, we announced 17 new additions to our #LookWest priority list, nearly doubling it. $88B+ in proposed projects over 3 yrs, creating #BCjobs. 1/3

B.C. is taking strong and coordinated action to curb gun violence, disrupt organized crime and keep communities safe. The Firearm Violence Prevention Act (FVPA) comes into force October 1, 2026 with regulations that close gaps in existing laws and give police stronger tools to go after criminals.

A proactive traffic stop by @CFSEUBC's Uniform Gang Enforcement Team in Surrey led to the seizure of 3.5 kilograms of drugs — including over 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl — and the arrest of two individuals, one of whom has been referred to @CanBorder for immigration enforcement.

One year ago, we invested in expanding the BC Hate Crime Unit from 2 officers to a team of 8. Today, that investment is working — the team has gone from reviewing 140 files a month to 140 files a week, and has reached over 1,550 people through education and outreach.

Today, I met with Terrace Mayor Sean Bujtas to discuss public safety priorities and continued collaboration. We discussed ongoing work through the Repeat Violent Offenders Intervention Initiative...

Thank you to the community members and organizations who joined Speaker Chouhan and MLAS in the Hall of Honour of the BC Leg to mark Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day. Thank you to Lillian Boraks-Nemetz for sharing your testimony and insights with us – your words will stay with us, always.

Surrey's communities are safer today because of the work of Surrey Police and their partners. Over four months, a BC-funded SITE operation in resulted in 136 arrests, 54 weapons seized, and 55 charges recommended — targeting the repeat offenders who cause the most harm.

Today we recognized Emergency Service Dispatchers and 9-1-1 Awareness Week in British Columbia. Every day, emergency dispatchers serve as the vital first point of contact for people in crisis. Your dedication saves lives, strengthens our communities, and exemplifies public service at its very best.

This evening, Jewish people around the world will light candles and remember those murdered in the Holocaust. Yom HaShoah calls on everyone to remember and reflect. We honour the six million people killed by the Nazis in a systematic attempt to annihilate Jewish people. (1/10)

As long as gangs threaten communities in B.C., we will keep investing in the people who stop them. Last month in Surrey, @CFSEUBC UGET officers made arrests and seized a firearm, drugs, cash, and devices during proactive patrols.

Yesterday I attended the 20th Anniversary of the Highway of Tears Symposium in Prince George, where I joined a meaningful public safety dialogue on justice, accountability and safety for MMIWG2S+ alongside my federal counterpart Minister Gary Anandasangaree (1/4).

Outstanding work by @cfseubc's Illegal Firearms Enforcement Team. A clandestine 3D-printed firearms lab in Surrey has been dismantled — a loaded rifle, six handguns, four suppressors, and three printers seized.

🎉 Happy #EducationWeek! 📚✨. Join me in celebrating the students, teachers, school and support staff, and trustees who help make B.C.’s education system one of the best in the world. (1/2)

Donald Trump’s loss is British Columbia’s gain. Thousands of US doctors, nurses and health professionals are applying to work in BC, because our system is based on the needs of the patient — not their ability to pay. BC now has more doctors per person than anywhere else in Canada.

As the sun sets tonight, Passover begins for Jewish communities in BC and worldwide. People will gather to celebrate with songs, prayers, readings from the Haggadah and the Seder, a ritual feast that includes symbolic foods. Wishing a meaningful Passover to all who celebrate.

British Columbia is taking direct aim at the finances of organized crime. By expanding the Civil Forfeiture Office, we are strengthening our ability to identify, freeze, and seize the assets that criminal organizations depend on.

Great meeting with @BCLions George Chayka and Jamie Taras today about two programs making a real difference for British Columbians. Be More Than a Bystander is equipping men and boys across BC to speak up and end gender-based violence.
