so excited to finally be able to announce we're bringing new restorations of Akihiro Suzuki's groundbreaking Y2K queer pink film LOOKING FOR AN ANGEL (1999) and its tragically underseen follow-up ANGEL'S BODY TEMPERATURE (2001) to Australia for the first time.

Akihiro Miwa is a legend. Fukasaku's Black Lizard and Black Rose Mansion are both incredible heaters, Miwa just devours every scene. Here's the scene where you get to see Miwa turn Yukio Mishima into a human statue. Best bond villain in history.

Akihiro Miwa, one of #Japan’s earliest most visible LGBTQ+ icons, singers, and film stars, has died at 91. Their best known role overseas was in 1968's Black Lizard. www.sankei.com/article/2026...

a decade or so ago I disagreed with a then-friend over some triviality of theory, and we never spoke again. my tone. some years later I heard she was sick, and before I knew it she had died, unreconciled. perhaps it would have gone wrong either way. but shows the folly of expressing ideas 🌈

In anticipation of Jane Schoenbrun's upcoming TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA (2026), this month at GAY24 we take a step back into their underseen early filmography with their debut short and feature film: the archival documentaries THE SCHOOL IS WATCHING and A SELF-INDUCED HALLUCINATION.

My archiving hot take is that On Our Backs should be fully available online and it's completely bullshit that it's been digitized and taken down multiple times over issues of 'contributor privacy.' It was a magazine with big circulation! There is an important archival interest in making it available

If you've ever wanted to do a trans movie night in your city, in a way it's kind of simple. Do you know a DIY venue? A punk house? A friend with a projector and someone with a backyard? A local business that would be chill with letting you set up a projector or use their tv?

SLIGHTLY YOUNGER TRANS WOMAN — "Is it AGP to say I would fuck my clone?" 1. - "I don't think you should worry about that typology stuff." 2. - [Esprit de Corps - Medium] "I would also fuck my clone." 3. - [Electrochemistry - Heroic] "I would also fuck your clone."

we're screening the new restoration of Egyptian queer classic FANGS, an incredibly fun trashy camp horror musical. taking very liberal inspiration from rocky horror, you can feel the filmmakers pushing right up against the limits of what kinds of queer representation was permissable in 80s Egypt
