The Ken Jennings thing was distilled proof of “I’m your biggest ally until you make me feel bad for the thing I like doing and then I stop listening.” This is so common. People will stand up for a marginalized community UP UNTIL it puts them in an uncomfortable position

Apparently people might keep telling me about other drug addicts they like that I “remind them of” bc they think it’s a subtle way of letting me know they support me. Every single time I’m like “huh????” but this makes sense.

Childhood friend's sister named her first daughter, born when she was a teen, Sierra. 16 yrs later she had another daughter who she named Sienna. 😅

Another day, another person from my past being surprised as hell to find out I'm an addict. College friend this time. She compared me to John Mulaney because we are "both funny people with some demons". HUH? I'm not funny? I'm boring?

this is where I currently stand. this well has been poisoned. I agree that I would like an unpoisoned well, but you can not convince me that I need to drink from the poisoned well just because I agree that water is important.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

Using lists of three is not an "AI tell." It's a common trait in human writing because our brains biologically want to make sure there's always one thing to marry, one thing to fuck, and one thing to murder.

Hey #booksky, it's a new month so I can suggest another new book for the library to order. Any suggestions? (TPL requirements: "To be considered, titles must be available for purchase in Canada and published within the last two years.")
