Since we know the GOP does not want ANY social spending (Medicare, SS, etc.), one can draw at least an inferential conclusion that driving up the debt helps promote reductions/elimination of the things they hate.
REPUBLICANS: "For our next trick, we're going to drive up the national debt past $40 trillion—without providing you with *any* bullet trains, universal healthcare, or bringing down the prices of ANYTHING. You're welcome!"
MSNOW needs to stop trying to be so centrist that they sound ridiculous. No one on the right watches them, so who are they kidding? If left-leaning media keeps harping on left/DSA vs. centrist division of Dem party, they only help the GOP. Nixon made Welker look pretty stupid in this segment.

Imagine how tempting of a target the USS Donald Trump would be to the Iranians.
There is an old saying: as you name a ship, so it will sail.
Good. It couldn't happen to a better bunch of people.
Normally when a sitting president has historically low approval ratings heading into midterms, candidates from his party in swing districts and states distance themselves from him during their campaigns. But Trump does not permit that, so they are stuck doubling down on failure.
Home of the Brave put up 300 new billboards across 16 states as part of a new $1 Million extension to our Sticker Shock Summer Campaign! All summer long, Sticker Shock Summer has been educating Americans on the real cost of the Trump administration's policies.
I feel like every Trump figure is now just charged with keeping the grift rolling until they can all make their getaway with the loot.

“I know this is going to sound extremely radical, or crazy,” she recounted telling the woman, “but ICE is there at the gate, and they're looking for you."
The whole Natalie thing explains why Trump has always said his "polls were great" & stuff like that. He rarely sees anything reality-based because Natalie constantly presents him with nothing but grossly biased, false stuff. Such a diet has skewed him to be even more delusional & that's something!
this is a really underrated factor in the Natalie Harp media explosion yes, Ossoff hit exactly the right target, but a big reason she was the right target is that everyone else around Trump finds her incredibly weird and offputting and is very excited to talk shit behind her back
He'll never sanction Russia, China, or North Korea for doing any business it wants to with Iran, so this is just more bullshit.
This will be another complete shit show of unforeseen consequences.

My crack at Natalie Harp mania. She's obviously a stone cold weirdo, but what's more telling is how the White House is hyper-defensive about she clings to Trump like a barnacle. Having a full-time babysitter draws attention to Trump's age. www.salon.com/2026/08/19/t...

Republicans are actually trying to say that it’s inappropriate to mention Donald Trump’s closest aide, the person who spends more time with him than anyone else including his wife. Who are they kidding? The latest at my newsletter: paulwaldman.substack.com/p/yes-we-abs...
“You are all that matters to me… I want to bring you joy…” If an aide was writing stuff like this to Biden (or, gasp, Obama) Republicans would never talk about anything else. And they know it. And @ossoff knows they know it. #Natalie
Yeah, but the cruelty those Trump supporters wanted has costs they seem willing to bear.
Ossoff: "I would address the president's few remaining supporters to contrast his promises with the results you've been delivered and to vote accordingly."
"It’s like watching a guy at the zoo jumping the fence and running full-speed toward a hot stove inside the leopard enclosure. It’s terrible. It’s karmic. And you can’t take your eyes off of it."

No it didn't. That the HHS Secretary is saying this is evidence of his complete insanity, and also that Senate confirmation of this bozo was the reason many more people will die than would have if a sane person had been appointed.

Of course it's bigger than the Lincoln! A carrier has a strike group w/ anywhere from 12-15 other ships accompanying it. If Lincoln is out of stuff, so are all the other ships. As said previously: EPIC FAILURE of the U.S. Navy, DOD, Commander-in-Chief. Good luck with future recruiting quotas.
🚨EXCLUSIVE: Military families and service members are now describing horrific conditions across MULTIPLE ships: human waste flooding bathrooms, virtually no food, water or soap, months without port calls, exhausted crews, and no end in sight. This crisis is far bigger than just the Lincoln.
Interesting thread. If Jeffries' constituents are the House members, it can be reasonably concluded that Schumer's constituents are Senate members. In other words, looking for national leadership from either of them is a wase of energy. They are leaders of Congress only. It tracks.
Ideology simply is not the driving force in leadership elections, and maybe never has been. Neither is it the job of Congressional leadership to set the ideological standards. The Members who elect the leaders don’t want that. Though maybe there needs to be such a position in the modern media era.
Maybe the fundamental question of the ME-SEN election is if Mainers remain comfortable being repped by someone who routinely laments the consequences of her own actions. Of course key to that is how widely it's understood that what Susan Collins says and does are two different things. #MEpolitics
Q: The shock gloves that ICE is reportedly rolling out using the deescalation funding. Is that the sort of use you envisioned when you passed that bill? SUSAN COLLINS: It's not

I think this is a great answer, but people here seem to think this constitutes "throwing under the bus"
How about if Democratic candidates just answer " This is the GOP again trying to stoke culture wars which have nothing to do with the price of gas, groceries, or housing, so I am not going to engage in their BS. I think most people are worried about what happens in their own households."
