I just heard a very loud sound and a watch style battery *exploded* in my bag of replacement batteries. It was insane. It totally ignited and exploded. I am cleaning up black dust and slightly shaken.
Today was a day. I must dig in and be aggressively cheerful.
The sea mouse is not a mouse. It's a chunky marine worm covered in felt-like hair that diffracts light into shifting reds, blues, and golds, some of the best natural photonics we know of. A brown lump on the seafloor that turns into a rainbow when the light hits right. #WormWednesday #marinelife

#books Reference Book Sunday! Today it's "Pocket Ref (4th Edition)" by Thomas Glover. This weensy little book is invaluable if you need a working man's knowledge of chemistry, electronics, material science, carpentry, plumbing, hardware, weather, first aid, and much much more. Astonishing, but true.
