Hello friends and loved ones. I am delinquent in replies to very many of you because I have been extremely depressed and anxious and I am very sorry.

MoveOn, Indivisible, Our Revolution, and 6 Democrats have called on Chuck Schumer to step aside as leader. So we asked all 40 Democratic senators who didn’t cave to Republicans if they still think Schumer is the right leader. Here's what they said. @andrewperez.bsky.social @swin24.bsky.social
Furious Liberals Call for Schumer to Step Aside, Senate Dems Mostly Quiet
After their shutdown surrender, liberal lawmakers are begging their base to unite behind them anyway – as Trumpland celebrates that their opposition is a bunch of 'p*ssies.'

Sen. @durbin.senate.gov are you a coward, a fool, or a traitor? History will remember you as all three.
Let’s all watch carefully which board appointments or cushy jobs @durbin.senate.gov gets from private industry for selling out the country
@durbin.senate.gov fuck you quisling. resign. you have sold out the people of illinois, whom you represent, and you have sold out the nation.
I have been charged in a federal indictment sought by the Department of Justice. This political prosecution is an attack on all of our First Amendment rights. I’m not backing down, and we’re going to win.
Stephen Miller on Fox threatens to arrest JB Pritzker for "seditious conspiracy" and says, "to all ICE officers: you have federal immunity in the conduct of your duties. And anybody who lays a hand on you or tries to stop or obstruct you is committing a felony."
"Somehow it is always marginalized people who destroy unity by existing—never bigots who create conflict by subordinating or insulting marginalized people."
guess I'll just need to reiterate this one www.everythingishorrible.net/p/unity-with...
INBOX: The Minnesota Supreme Court issued a landmark ruling in Cooper v. USA Powerlifting, affirming that transgender athletes have the right to compete in sports without discrimination under the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
Chris Murphy: "There's a lot of history that has taken place in the East Wing & it was just destroyed without any conversation in the public, without any consent of Congress. It's absolutely illegal. That visual is powerful b/c you're watching destruction of the rule of law as those walls come down"
The optics of Trump building a ballroom that 99.9% of Americans will never set foot in while millions line up for food banks are worth more than any policy paper or economic proposal. This image is a visceral punch in the mouth that needs no words. It should haunt the GOP for a generation.
a live look at the demolition of the White House's East Wing for Trump's ballroom
Assuming trans people's physiology based on our birth certificates is potentially unsafe
establishment wealth and consolidated corporate power would like you all to just shut up, drink your corn syrup, and not openly opine on how the extraction class is fucking you over in about seventy different ways on the daily that kind of dangerous wokeism has no place in polite society
The newspaper that mainstreamed Chris Rufo, Ben Shapiro, Bari Weiss, and Charlie Kirk renews its calls to meet fascists halfway:
yeah, the thing is you don't even have to bring morals into it it's just an obvious practical problem that society-warping amounts of power should not be concentrated at the whims of a single individual and the simplest and best way to solve that problem is to disallow anyone from having that power
This. I never much cared about the *moral* assertion that billionaires should not exist. It's true but never seemed like the most pressing moral failure to resolve. The REAL reason billionaires shouldn't exist is entirely practical: they're an apocalyptic-level threat.
billionaires should not be allowed to exist because the downside of "one of them loses their mind" is simply too dangerous for a functional society also, having a billion dollars tends to make you lose your mind
The whole point of democracy is so one person's derangement does not become everybody's problem. It's social hygiene. The fact the richest men in the West are a mix of grotty twelve year olds and deranged apocalypse fanatics is a problem, and we should be honest about it.

@annabower.bsky.social can you text Lindsay and ask if she thinks her use of disappearing texts (and her use of Signal, generally) complies with data preservation rules under the Federal Records Act?
Oh nooooo, Lindsey Halligan, this is not how any of this works (15 screens into a Signal exchange) www.lawfaremedia.org/article/anna...
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification. I glanced down at the message. “Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began. So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies. www.lawfaremedia.org/article/anna...

Oak Park resident Scott Sakiyama reports feds pointed weapons at him across from an elementary school today. They then arrested him and took him to Broadview. While in custody, he saw agents texting in a group chat called "Chiraq Team 2." Full testimony: www.facebook.com/share/p/1GqB...
Whether pepper ball launchers or real guns, this happens almost every day now.
The Democrats need to get a hell of a lot of cameras on the White House and plaster the photos everywhere. It's not just the brazen symbol of a megalomaniac destroying national heritage; it's happening during a government shutdown when ordinary people aren't getting paid. Make every American see it.
