Old Yorkshire Lass

@oldyorkshirelass.bsky.social

I'm old. I live in Yorkshire. I'm a lass, although my appearance is gender non-conforming. AuDHD. DV survivor. She/her. Never fitted in. Don't particularly want to. Minecraft, crochet, cats, cheese, gardening, chocolate.

I get the impression that some people aren't clear what this means. This is the UK state deciding to intervene directly in the healthcare of individual children, depriving them of medicine that their doctors have prescribed for their personal health & wellbeing, in defiance of global best practice.

Update: Young people & families today received shocking & transphobic letters from NHS. These letters tell people that endocrine care (blockers / HRT) is being fully withdrawn in 7 weeks time (July 31st). Forced medical detransition. This country is a danger to trans children & young people.

True. This is reality now, under a government that is pandering to the extremist views of a very vocal (and rich) minority. Bodily autonomy, equity for all humans regardless of religion, skin colour, gender expression or sensuality, disability etc is not extremist. It's basic humanity.

It's also the present under Labour. I want to make it really clear: These photos aren't just a threat of a future under the far right. They are the present under a centre-right Labour government. Right now.

Books saved my life more than once as A Weird Teenager With No Friends by giving me worlds o could escape into when I didn'twant to live in this one. Sadly, my two favourite series (The Mists of Avalon and The Belgariad/Mallorean) were written by people who were pretty awful.

Bryn Celli Ddu is a remarkable Neolithic passage tomb built to align with midsummer sunrise some 5,000 years ago! On the longest day of the year, the rising sun lights up the inner burial chamber where a stone pillar keeps watch from the shadows. Anglesey, Wales 📷 by me #TombTuesday #Archaeology

My photo collage shows Bryn Celli Ddu Neolithic passage tomb on the island of Anglesey, Wales.

Top photo: view of the grassy mound which covers the inner burial chamber, with east-facing stone-lined entrance, and a kerb of rocks around the mound.

Bottom left: stone-lined entrance passage leading to the inner burial chamber. There is a low shelf on the northern side of the passage (on the right in my photo).

Bottom right photo: inside the tomb, the central chamber is lined with large stone slabs, and a large stone pillar made of blue schist stands in the shadows to the right of the doorway.

Fell off t'internet for a while. Well, stopped posting. Minor health scare, the winter sads, the state of the world *gestures forlornly*. Feeling very small and insignificant. But Spring is Springing, and (for a change) the sun is out so not feeling quite as lost, today.

A round green pot filled with purple and white violas and small yellow daffodils sits on a black and white circular mosaic table. There are two matching chairs either side. It's sunny.

Catching up with the VOD (Pix's POV) from the GIGGS first D&D session that streamed last night. Would have watched it live, but Grublin 1 wanted to go and see Iron Lung (and none of his friends were around to go with him, so I got drafted in!) Thoroughly enjoyed the film, by the way!
