His name is Alex Jeffrey Pretti. He was 37 years old. He was a licensed nurse. He was recording ICE and defending a female protester from their aggression. And they executed him.
“At least another 5 shots are fired toward the man who is already incapacitated on the ground.” Let that sink in. They publicly executed this observer, a nurse. They wanted him dead. Why? As a warning to others who might try to hold them accountable?

This is Alex Pretti. This morning he was murdered by ICE. Six ICE agents held him down and shot him at point blank range. Alex was a nurse and researcher at the VA. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and we stand united in action calling for the abolishment of ICE. #ScientistsAgainstICE
Per his colleagues: The victim’s name was apparently Alex Pretti and he was an ICU nurse caring for severely injured veterans at the VA Hospital. He was acting as an observer, filming the raid. Any suggestion that he was there with violence on his mind is horrific gaslighting.

WASS Courses
The political, legal, and academic calls for governing food and its varied material and cultural components as a commons rather than a commodity are growing in importance and recognition. Food commons are increasingly recognized as essential to a number of interconnected struggles for the right to food, food security, food sovereignty, food justice, and degrowth. At the same time, food commons are often overlooked as relics of a distant past, doomed to enclosure, or too messy to govern. Together we will investigate why this is the case, and identify opportunities for research and action.
