This is not to say that replacement of Fedorov (after power struggle with Sirskyy) - was right or wrong. But suggesting that choice was made entirely because of a rapid rise of Fedorov in polls does not add up. As of July 2026 he is polling at 3/4% with no significant rise.

Very proud that UoM ranks 1st in the world for THE Sustainability Impact Ratings. We are one of few elite global universities (40th - QS 2027) consistently rank in the top 10 in both in "THE Impact Rankings" & "QS World Sustainability Rankings."

50 years ago I began work at Chatham House on the future of British foreign policy. Very much enjoyed this conversation with Olivia O’Sullivan who is now also running a Uk foreign policy project at Chatham House.

Professor @ldfreedman.bsky.social (@warstudieskcl.bsky.social) joined @oliviaosullivan.bsky.social to discuss America’s foreign policy failures and the impact of Margaret Thatcher, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan on his time at Chatham House. Read the full interview for @theworldtoday.org ⤵️

& just like that, in the midst of a serious diplomatic misstep by Nawrocki, Zelensky returns the Order not by diplomatic pouch but by Nowa Poshta … just like millions of ordinary Ukrainians. Proving that although he is tired, imperfect, and makes mistakes, in many ways he is still just one of them.

As a result of Russia’s mass air raid on Ukraine this night The Art Arsenal was set on fire by drone bomb. My dear friend Director of Art Arsenal Olesya Ostrovska described the events as they unfolded. She writes: “Early this morning, the Russians attacked the Mystetskyi Arsenal with a drone…”

11th century Lavra Monestary (built in 1051) set on fire as a result of Russian air raid this night. Also on fire was a section of Art Arsenal Building. Four victims on sites thus far.

My reading of public opinion on Brexit rn: ~most constituencies think the UK was wrong to have left the EU ~most constituencies will now be majority Rejoin given national polling (55-33) ~the national lead that Rejoin enjoys in the polls would tighten a fair bit during a campaign*

Back in 2023, when @focaldata.bsky.social produced an MRP poll on Brexit, Makerfield was estimated as 51% agree (vs 31% disagree) that the UK was wrong to have left the EU.

This is a brilliant book by Sara and James! Great article covering its main argument. An argument that travels across to many cases globally.

Great piece in The Guardian by @chakrabortty.bsky.social on how Britain remains a country divided along Brexit lines - building on my new book with James Tilley: "Tribal Politics. How Brexit Divided Britain" (global.oup.com/academic/pro...) Read it here 👇 www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

And here's the overall picture in historic perspective. A seismic reshaping of the local election map. Reform UK making fewer gains overall than last year, in part because of a less favourable map, but huge losses for Labour and record gains for Greens.

In terms of overall councillor counts, the Tories are set to fall to their second lowest level in modern local election history (only after LE1996 was worse), while Labour are on trend to fall to a level only previously held between 2008-11.
