🚨 After 40 years of research, Brazilian scientist Dr. Mariangela Hungria wins the World Food Prize for pioneering a $2 nitrogen-fixing bacteria treatment that replaces costly fertilizers, saves farmers $25 billion annually, and cuts 230 million tons of CO₂ emissions.
Excellent take down of Jeremy Clarkson's nonsense about benefit recipients. Also perfect for sharing with anyone else thinking benefit claimants somehow have an easy life and don't contribute to society.
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
I will wait to see her plans for making this possible, including timescale, funding, staffing (+training), providing suitable spaces and equipment. #UKEd #UKTeaching ‘Tiger mum’ Lucy Powell on Labour’s vocational skills drive: ‘It’s about ambition for everybody’ www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

#TheYearInReform Look, it's very simple. Nothing to see here. Move along. Reform UK is a party - sorry - a company built around British Patriotism and being frank with the public, and it is led by straight-talking anti-elite Nigel Farage.
And covid was not harmless to children. Being at lower risk than adults does not mean harmless. There was acute illness needing hospital, late onset rare but serious inflammatory disease, Long Covid and 13,000 UK children who lost a parent. (more details in substack post at end) 8/12
"Closing all educational institutions, limiting gatherings to 10 people or less, and closing face-to-face businesses each reduced transmission considerably. The additional effect of stay-at-home orders was comparatively small."
Inferring the effectiveness of government interventions against COVID-19

I had a work colleague who died during the first wave of covid, as did her mother. Her 8 year old kid lost his Mum, his Nan and nearly lost his Dad as well in one month, but go off with your presenting-both-sides-of the-argument, I guess.
Kevan Collins told the government how to plug those gaps and they refused to fund his suggestions. Those kids heard Boris say that pubs were more important than schools and education and they listened.
The dead children represented on the children's panel of our national covid memorial will never have any life at all. ❤️
There are working class and vulnerable kids who will never have the life they should have had because of school closures. Let’s address that too, shall we?

De Zerbi on transfers (press conference via Spurs app): "Bomba in Italian is different than it is in English... I said we need to complete the transfer market. We have some other players to complete the squad. "I think two or maybe three (more players to come in)."
I would not rule out UEFA already having had a plan, or at least the outline of one, in place to overthrow/replace FIFA if an opportunity arose.

UEFA spokesperson Dietmar Fumm said to reporters "This decision effectively signals that Gianni Infantino is an enemy of world football". tl;dr: FIFA "foe" - Fumm
Martha Thomas has been sold to Newcastle Utd (WSL2 side). This was coming. But Martha will forever be in our hearts for those four months in the autumn of 2023 when she couldn't stop scoring, and which culminated in probably the best team goal in Spurs Women history. Thank you & good luck. 🤍
