The situation is tougher on Valve and the Steam Deck because they cannot benefit from economies of scale that lower build costs, it's also harder for them to subsidize hardware because they're not meaningfully generating higher lifetime value from the sale of Steam Decks (e.g. via subscription)

Still not surprised it went up, but 40%!? Holy shit the gaming hardware market is cooked, Steam machine probably DOA. What a goddam shame!
