Public fandom account.

Exactly this. And in fact, many models *have* been created this way, and decades of prior machine learning systems *were* created this way, consensually. These things are choices! People are STILL working this way! It’s not just that a better world is possible — it already EXISTS. We can nurture it.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

This should be so obvious that it doesn’t need to be said, but given what kind of weekend it’s been on here, apparently it does: If you don’t want old rapists running the world, in office, in the board room, making decisions for all of us get comfortable with “ruining” young rapists’ lives

went to local cafe to type up what I wrote in longhand for this WIP, and that's TWO completed chapters I have for this story, HAH. [my GoT travails have reminded me to finish monster fics before actually posting them lol]

I just saw the trailer for the Clayface movie while watching a game and went “Nope, nope, nope, mmhmm, NOPE,” out loud in my apartment. So happy for the people who can do body horror BUT I AM NOT ONE OF THEM FFFFFFF

I am torn between being stunned at Manchester City actually being found guilty of all the alleged shenanigans, and also going “what good does that do now?” I can’t imagine they’re going to hand those trophies to other teams, I’d be STUNNED if they get relegated, and fines are a nothing burger

I maintain that Taylor Swift should’ve kept doing what she did on folklore and write fictional songs that everyone knows are fictional, instead of pretending like she is still a relatable white girl.

I think about this Paul Simon interview where he talks about how artists run out of a lot of material when fame is involved. He says something like "There's not a lot of songs you can write about having a lot of money and living in a big house"

Even if you think especially highly of Swift as a master of pop craft (which I do), there's a clear progression in her work where she simply doesn't have experience from which to write interesting songs anymore because she hasn't had close to a normal life in a decade and a half.
