Today's unrequested Last Of The Summer Wine rewatch opinion: I like Russ Abbot a lot (see the recent @pantosplaining.bsky.social) but his character doesnt work. It's like Foggy with a head injury. Oct 28, 1989 - hanging about Harlow waiting for a gig, I stumbled on the local hospital radio doing a roadshow from the town centre. The presenter was so short of things to talk about he did a couple of minutes reading out the offers from the Gas Board shop window.
Did you ever go to a roadshow of any kind? I find them fascinatingly tacky yet exceptionally well organised. Would love to see your photos.

Whenever I DJ, I always insist on two large posters of my face keeping watch over the crowds. It lets them know who's in charge, and that I'm not to a man to be trifled with.
It used to get massive crowds in Southsea, I only went once myself, too busy being away with the navy, but I do remember seeing The Men They Couldn’t Hang and Timmy Mallett! (1990?) The rumour was that TM had turned up in Plymouth by mistake.
Radio 1's roadshow came to Bedford. Opus 3, 2wo Third3 and Stiltskin mimed, Mark Goodier presenting. I've just found out it was 1st June 1994... I have a vague memory of the BBC News being cheered at, but not what story. Ken Livingstone was there for reasons unknown.
Attended two on Blackpool seafront. One on the actual beach hosted by ‘Ooh’ Gary Davis, with a PA from Right Said Fred. Then a subsequent one on the prom. All I remember from that was Phillip Schofield performing Any Dream from Joseph.

I know there are those who will accuse me of making a joke, but I genuinely believe Gerry Keenan’s music became better after the accident.

I would LOVE the young actor in the small part who told the whole story on Popbitch years ago to appear on @pantosplaining.bsky.social, even if to give a full an accurate account of the "The problem is, they're all cunts" story as the two of them watched a dress rehearsal fall apart from the stalls
