34 (at time of writting) Femboy. Pretty much here to just express my creativity, wether it's art of cute outfits!

me here thinking of the guy that Nintendo got sentenced to a life of slave labor to pay off his debt to them for cracking ROMs. like damn, that sentence was only passed like 5 years ago.

We’re not here to re-litigate Aaron Swartz. If you’re here to point out that Aaron was a an actual criminal, I’m not going to debate you. But I do want to know why you’re not pursuing Altman et al with a proportional level of energy for the levels of intellectual property theft they have committed.

Wow, some of you really are deliberately missing the point because you lack media literacy, so let me spell it out: actual theft of intellectual property by tech bros is bot treated with the same gravity by the state or the law that a man downloading taxpayer-funded research did.

Aaron Swartz, coding prodigy and hacktivist who helped develop RSS and was a co-founder of Reddit, died by suicide after facing $1 million in fines and 35 years in prison for felony charges, just for downloading pdfs of research papers with the intention of making them accessible to the public.

Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.

And to be clear, FDR campaigned on "we are gonna throw shit at the wall till stuff gets better & something works" and he won *4* terms. The "pragmatic" and "strategic" electoral strategy, is to admit that you don't know everything but you're gonna try stuff till it works.

After FDR, republicans didn't regain the house again until like, the bush years. "moderate" dems are committed to making sure that republicans are never sidelined like that again, because all of their donations bank on them being the 'swing' vote.

there is a dedicated core of dem party operatives who don't want trans people to have rights and then the merry little (big) band of sycophants who parrot "the dems have to moderate on trans rights"
