At the height of Operation Metro Surge, highly sensitive data from license plate cameras was available to far-flung departments that searched it and used it for immigration enforcement. This is deeply disturbing and confirms the concerns about increased surveillance and how it can make us less safe.
I have had friends do FOI requests and found this out independently based upon obscured flock camera data requests on cameras in TC suburbs by police departments in other parts of the country.
Soren Stevenson@sorenwithward8.bsky.social · 2mo agoRecent research from the Star Tribune shows that while Twin Cities police departments said they did not share data with federal agents for the purpose of immigration enforcement, federal agencies had means of accessing this data anyway.
Not sure about the source, from social media, mainstream hasn’t confirmed yet but this would be my second happened upon shooting after leaving work this year, though I was in the last one. This I drove by, there was a large police presence and reporters and a taped off area to the right of me.
In this moment, more than ever, it is imperative that we elect leaders with the spine to stand up for our democracy - especially when decisions are tough and when the lights are their brightest. Flip your ballot over and vote Frazier!
