Premiere Smith’s illegitimate attempt to end run the system after the system failed to produce her desired chaos is a master class in ratfucking. Here’s how the question is structured: Should Alberta stay in Canada? Yes - Alberta should leave No - Alberta should stay

“Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”

“Yes - Alberta should begin the process of holding a binding referendum on separation”

“No - Alberta should not begin the prose of holding a binding referendum on separation - Alberta stays on Canada”

“Not sure”

Can we talk about stuff like this Aurenbooks reading light? Not just about how inconvenient it would actually be - it's one size, annoying to have to reset it every page flip - simply use one of many reading lights available for a much lower cost than it's $110 cost ($55 on SALE!) (1/4)

Facebook kindly reminded me that 19 years ago today, I posted photos of myself as a child to an album. This ended up being 10 years TO THE DAY before my first kiddo came into the world. I'm appalled that social media has been a part of our lives for 20 years now. But...am I a prophet? #weird

It's #blackhistorymonth. Read Octavia Butler, Walter Rodney, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Nnedi Okorafor. Watch Sinners again. Watch, read, and listen to Black art. White people: understanding that Black art is art from your fellow human beings is a path to empathy and our collective future.

Watched "2010" for the first time. Surprised how much political tensions drove the story, given politics were largely absent in 2001. Smart move, really. While it doesn't have the same impact as Kubrick's film, it works as a sequel despite a slightly different tone & some dodgy early CGI. #Filmsky

Look, it's been hard for me to figure out how to talk about the difference between healthy masculinity and bullshit, weak, fear-based control fantasies, but BOY HAS THIS WEEK MADE EVERYTHING MORE CLEAR.

This exactly why I tell people to fight misogyny and child abuse if they want to fight authoritarianism. Those are pillars of fascism that so many people think are “normal” parts of a “democratic” society. News flash: they have no place in a democratic society.

Watching these videos of ICE attacking children, I can’t help but think about how many of these men first practiced their violence in their own homes. Domestic violence teaches our oppressors to dehumanize the most vulnerable among us.
