This is Russian “drone safari” in Kherson caught on camera. Unequivocal and blatant war crimes as drone operators deliberately target and hunt civilians like this elderly man. Unbelievably, he survived the attack.

🤬 Kherson. A Russian drone operator hunts down a civilian fruit seller and attacks him. The Russian with the remote control knows and sees what he is doing. They write that he survived.

Europe has to get better at countering this hybrid weapon. Right now, it is effective in fueling populist right and anti-establishment parties. There need to be rapid responses that do not fuel anti-immigrant sentiments. That’s not easy. Deterrence is one option, both by denial and by punishment.

I’m not the only one suggesting that Ceuta might have been a case of migrant weaponization: “It is impossible for nearly 50,000 people to cross the border between Morocco and Spain in a single day without Morocco having a hand in it.” Lorenzo Gabrielli, Pompeu Fabra University.+

What Caused the Surge of Migrants From Morocco Into Ceuta? (Gift Article)

Speculation has focused on lax Moroccan policing, attractive Spanish immigration policies and misinformation from human traffickers. In reality, experts said, it’s too early to know.

Refugees are simultaneously a) a product of sharp discrepancies in living conditions that create push & pull effects, & b) at times weaponized by states against adversaries. When 50,000 refugees arrive in 24 hours, some perhaps bused to the border, weaponization cannot be excluded.+

Cette vidéo avec un filigrane du Tetouan Post, partagée par Taleb Alisalem, un militant sahraoui et analyste politique résidant en Espagne, m’intrigue beaucoup. Elle semble très récente.

A few points: • No shortage of maritime coalitions and missions in these areas already. • Seems to reinvent the Red Sea Council, but clearly Saudi-led? • Lots of filler members, but e.g. Egypt and Turkey are navally well-endowed. • Most notable feature: the UAE-shaped hole in its member list.

12yrs ago russian terrorists murdered 16yo Stepan Chubenko in the Donetsk region. They tortured the boy for a week and then shot him dead w/ 5 bullets for wearing a 🇺🇦 ribbon. Rest in glory, Stepan. The world had turned a blind eye to the russian genocidal war for way too long.

The argument that NATO provoked 🇷🇺 by expanding to 🇷🇺’s borders ignores the perspective of 🇷🇺’s neighbors that joined. NATO didn’t “expand” as much as accept Russian neighbors who didn’t want to kneel & who desperately needed safety from 🇷🇺. I’m glad they did. Compare Estonia’s fate to 🇺🇦’s.

I'm watching in germany. The German commentators kept quiet for nearly the whole thing until suddenly the shot widened and we just hear with a German accent, "Oh, Miss Piggy"
