One of the first “cover songs that don’t work” that pops into my head is I Swear. The song isn’t great to begin with. But then both the R&B and Country versions don’t do it any favors. Plus it blew up and both versions played on the radio as nauseum.

I like cover songs. They can go sideways, sure, but I love a band or singer taking a song they love and putting their stamp on it. Been meaning to bring this up on the Lounge. What do you guys think of cover songs? What covers work? What don’t?

So, I’m still kind of low key mad that Mission Impossible 8-9 didn’t bring back Emilio as hacker Jack to be the villain that’s working with/for the evil AI. And don’t tell me it’s because he died. You can write around that, especially in a M:I movie.

"Do you remember what your first R-rated movie was?" I wasn't allowed to watch R-rated movies as a kid (and we didn't have HBO, so no sneaking). That means my first R-rated movie was one I had to drive myself to when I was old enough. Not a super memorable film, but it was The Star Chamber.
