Rey had an office up in editorial, while Ben—despite being a senior reporter who’d been with the Chandrila Chronicle for upwards of a decade now—was confined to a too-small cubicle whenever he wasn’t in the field. It wasn’t usually an issue that anyone walking by could see his screen, except when he wanted to play Tetris on his lunch breaks. And, apparently, when his editor decided to send him a message that made panic well up inside him.

Ben stared at the five-word, uncapitalized and unpunctuated sentence. When had Rey noticed—how long ago had she noticed—?

His frequent physical reaction to her presence wasn’t intentional, of course. He’d never had this problem before. But one glimpse of her ass in an atrociously tangerine-colored but beautifully tight pencil skirt, and his cock is eagerly perking up with zero regard for workplace professionalism. Or that time her blouse was just a tiny bit see-through and he couldn’t help but notice that her bra was pale blue, clinging temptingly to her perfect little breasts. In that little void of theirs, he cedes all control to her. He feels it slip away from him the second her thighs tighten around his hips. The constant, threatening hum he always feels in the darkest depth of his chest disappears. He expects the monster inside of him to revolt, but it does no such thing. It retreats.

It purrs. It coils into a small ball at the back of his soul, its smoky tendrils stroking his heart like velvet instead of biting into it with sharpened teeth.

Rey’s nails scrape across his shoulders with a stinging pressure that fills him with liquid heat. He likes the pain she gives him; he wants more of it. He wants her to sink her claws into his very essence, to carve her name into the very thing that makes him who he is.

It was a stupid dare and she should have said no, but Rey never backed down from a challenge and she wasn’t going to start now. They had her backed up against the lockers and Rey hoped the bell would ring and put her out of her misery but it didn’t. Bazine turned her fake-lashed eyes on Rey and smirked, with her perfectly lined lips oozing Omega confidence, Rey felt the familiar animal rear up inside her that would never take a leash, never obey a command.

“Never had a heat,” Bazine crooned. “Aren’t you a little old for that, Rey?”

Sure, technically, if you went by hormone charts and age averages and all the rest of it, yes, it should have happened by now, and the leaflets in the school nurse’s office weren’t overly reassuring, and perhaps there was, as Rey suspected, something deeply and irretrievably wrong with her, but she wouldn’t let Bazine make fun of her.

Rey was about to say something fucking awful that she would probably regret when Baz’s older tall friend with the long dark hair and the oversized leather jacket - Ben? - interrupted. He smelled of cigarettes and something Rey couldn’t place, and his black eyes were hazy and a little too intense which made Rey wonder if he wasted even though it was only 10 in the morning.

He’d dreamed that he and Rey were alone on the prairie, no wagons in sight, but neither of them were afraid or lonely for they were too well occupied with each other. They had lain together in the tall grass, hidden from the world, sunshine in the sky, a cool breeze playing with the wisps of Rey’s hair, violin music coming from far away, and wildflowers in every shade all around them. If they’d spoken of anything, he didn’t remember it when he woke. He only remembered the sensations of touching Rey’s palm, of hearing her laughter and seeing her smiling at him, of the feel of her body underneath his, the slow caress of his fingers on her legs as he drew up her skirt, the heat and dampness at the apex of her thighs that drew him in until he was completely lost.

This final book is now my favourite in the trilogy. It blends a psychological deep dive into a troubled marriage with a war story seen through the eyes of previously devoted soldiers as their illusions about their respective causes and leaders crumble. Although I tend to skim over battle scenes to get to more interesting parts, here I read them all, impressed with how gut-wrenching and poignant Thea made them."

She’s a good person not because she never wants to do anything selfish or violent, but because she chooses not to.

This Shattered Tempest is a satisfying final book in a beautiful trilogy, giving the main characters the ending they deserve and lovingly tying the subplots that crop up throughout the story. Even the sariman gets a rewarding resolution! I’m impatiently waiting for the release so everyone will be able to read this and we can scream about it together. I’ll bring the popcorn, you bring the tissues – we’re going to need them."

What drew me to The Love Hypothesis wasn't just the romance or even the humor, although both are part of what makes it so easy to fall into the book. It was the tension underneath it all-the sense that, at any given moment, everything could shift.
That something real is always just on the other side of a decision you are not entirely ready to make.
On the surface, The Love Hypothesis is charming and comforting in the way the best love stories are. But underneath, it's about something quieter: the choice to stop protecting yourself.
By letting yourself say what you have been circling around, or by wanting something enough that you are willing to be wrong about it.
That idea felt very familiar to me.
As an actor, so much of the work depends on stepping into uncertainty and trusting that something honest will meet you there. You do not always feel prepared, and you do not always

you are going, but you commit to it at Sometimes you overthink or try to control too much, but o the best thing you can do is let go of all of that and trust vi, happens. Bringing this story to life asked for that same kid, trust. It meant paying attention to the smaller moments pauses, the miscommunications, and the words that alos pr said-because those are often the most revealing.
Ali Hazelwood has written characters who feel recognizi. in the best way. They hesitate, they second-guess themsel and they try to stay in control, often longer than they need t Then, piece by piece, they allow themselves to be more opa than they intended.
At its core, The Love Hypothesis is about more than falling in love. It is about the vulnerability that comes with beng known, and the risk that comes with choosing it.
Whether you are returning to this story or discovering it fr the first time, I hope you find yourself somewhere in it in the uncertainty, in the hesitation, and in the moments where yor decide, despite all of that, to move forward anyway.
