I'll be disappointed if Stevens wins, but mostly what you should take away from tonight is that the coalition really is divided between factions with lots of genuine support, we can't wish the other side away, and we're all going to have to learn to live with each other if we want to win.

Haven’t read the full article but this seems indisputable? Human rights are our business because they’re everyone’s business, but it’s really not for us to tell other people how to draw their countries. The historical record on partition by outside parties is very poor.

There are a lot of people who were capable of being open-minded when Arabs and Muslims were simply the *subject* of US policy but whose response to those communities having an active role in American politics on par with other ethnic and faith groups has been to totally lose their shit.

I am really bummed about Zeynep Tufekci’s descent into loony conspiracy theories. Twitter and Tear Gas was a really insightful book that said a lot of things other journalists are now being given credit for saying like ten years later.

"There is a conspiracy to cover this up" is not evidence for "covid was a bioweapon that escaped from a lab". It could also be evidence for my theory, "please stop talking about this stupid idea"
