Here's my story on Texas' drag ban being ruled unconstitutional again. Fun quote from Judge David Hittner, a Reagan appointee: "Finally, for those who find such activities as described in this case offensive, the solution is relatively simple … just don’t go." www.chron.com/culture/arti...

'Just don't go': Judge once again finds Texas drag ban unconstitutional

For the second time in three years, a federal judge has ruled Texas' ban on drag shows is unconstitutional.

We have had this conversation so many times. You do not have to platform/debate obscene views that are also false. I wrote during a wave of pressure on progressives to compromise with far-right haters:

I can comprehend, and do, that lots of people don’t believe climate change is real, but is there some great benefit in me listening, again, to those who refuse to listen to the global community of scientists and see the evidence before our eyes? A lot of why the right doesn’t “understand” climate change is that climate change tells us everything is connected, everything we do has far-reaching repercussions, and we’re responsible for the whole, a message at odds with their idealization of a version of freedom that smells a lot like disconnection and irresponsibility. But also climate denial is the result of fossil fuel companies and the politicians they bought spreading propaganda and lies for profit, and I understand that better than the people who believe it. If half of us believe the earth is flat, we do not make peace by settling on it being halfway between round and flat.

How about refuting them on theoretical and empirical grounds? That is kind of how science works. It doesn’t work by calling people names, refusing to engage with their claims and attempting to get them fired.

ICE just arrested a 5-year-old on his way to a soccer game in Austin. His name is Liam, just like the little boy from Minnesota. He should be in kindergarten this week. Instead he's in a trailer prison in the desert. Release Liam. Release these kids. Close the Dilley children’s prison.

The Republican platform is simple: they want to sexually abuse children, and they want you to pay for it. The way this manifests these days is by their dogged focus on the digital creation of child sexual abuse material.

A ban on surveillance pricing—using people's private data to set prices—is already setting off the big retail and grocery companies, which bought Seattle Times banner ads and are sending mass texts to convince consumers it's in our best interest to let companies mine our data to decide what we pay.

Politicians usually show up at the border to demonize & fear-monger. We just drove 750 miles from El Paso to the Valley to show off the beauty & potential of our border communities. We’re showing up for Texans along the border who've been left behind by both political parties.

The belief that Mamdani’s politics are limited to New York is giving the same energy as “there’s no way a Black man from Chicago, raised in ‘exotic’ Hawaii, with the middle name ‘Hussein’ can become a national figure, let alone win the presidency”

Meg & I aren’t big on tattoos, so we were a little nervous when Marek & Rosa first told us they were getting them. But what they came home with made us cry (well, me anyway).

Reporter: Ken Paxton has taken to calling you ‘Talafreako’ @JamesTalarico: If Ken Paxton is worried about freaks, he should stop giving Epstein-style sweetheart deals to pedophiles. This is the guy who just released Adam Hoffman from jail, an admitted child rapist.
