im not one for language purity wars but holy fuck man, go. what a shit show. maybe before ai the shortcuts and winking towards safety/correctness were okay but post-ai its unacceptable.
I made a website for shoehorn. It now has a nice discovery tool and a GUI too. And distribution is better. And it supports Nvidia on Windoze/Linux now. Shoehorn makes any language model fit the memory you have by quantizing it down. Rust + GGUF magic. notactuallytreyanastasio.github.io/shoehorn/
shoehorn — make any language model fit your machine
Solves a per-tensor quantization that uses 99.99% of your exact VRAM budget — every spare megabyte spent where it buys the most quality. macOS, Linux, and Windows.

shoehorn: feed it a BF16 model and an imatrix, and it solves a per-tensor quant mix that fills your actual VRAM to within ~100KB, then hands it to llama.cpp. No preset roulette: a knapsack solver spends every spare MB where the importance matrix says quality lives. Rust, standard GGUF out.

Let's talk about AOC as a young scientist & her award winning research on antioxidants & C. elegans, a standard roundworm model. She grew up in the Bronx. Ethnically Puerto Rican, her dad Sergio, an architect, died when she was 19. Her mother cleaned houses, drove a school bus. Working class.
People just don't realize how smart AOC is. She came in second at the national Intel Science and Engineering Fair. An *incredibly* competitive field. That's roughly equivalent to being the second best forward in high school basketball in the United States.

All you need is a 70mm projector and enough room to house all the cans. The Oriental is not an IMAX, but they're screening the 70mm print. As for the difference in aspect ratios between the two, there's nothing preventing the 35mm from being screened at full frame except how they chose to cut it. 🤷🏻♂️
I dunno man. It honestly kinda feels like a dick move to make your movie in a format that only 70 screens in the entire world are able to handle properly and which is a technology that is no longer being manufactured.
best part about LLM's IMO is that it lets everyone use their own computer's so much harder
I had forgotten how much light there is in the world, till you gave it back to me.
I'm hopefully gonna open source an Oban library I've been building. It does a lot of things. It's got "pipelines" which have "steps", steps have in/out types that control flow through diverging logic for parent/child jobs. All the steps calls are compile time enforced to match the types given.
REI sent me someone else's stuff instead of the stuff I ordered. And the only recourse is for me to go a physical rei location.
Before kids “man design with reach is neat!l after kids “lets just whatever is nicest at ikea, hopefully it survives a few years”
One thing to consider is if you have kids, they will destroy your house and everything in it. Another thing to consider is that if you don't have kids, you're probably less likely to have people around who are dying for a 15 minute dance party after dinner. www.vox.com/future-perfe...
Powerful but subtle features are coming together for Oban Pro. Schedule an entire workflow with an annotation, and offload every cascade's output to object storage. Aside from the ETL functions themselves, that's the entire thing 👇
People fighting over weather the "datacenter in space" shit is going to work when the real Musk grift are his plans to make his own chip fab. Infinitely harder than putting some gpu's in space and way costlier.
Reported three hard clogged storm drains for the second time this year. The second times the charm finally they came to clear them out. The system mostly kinda works.
still a work in progress, but this is starting to look pretty good
a pedagogical godbolt-style workbench for exploring how elixir code is lowered to beam bytecode is this anything?

chat is it good when your head of state cannot appear on camera during the national anthem at a national championship match for one of your main national sports without getting lustily booed by people who are statistically a lot likelier than average to actually be in or adjacent to the ruling class
Hahahaha. They tried to show Trump on the Jumbotron during the anthem si people wouldn’t boo but the boos were IMMEDIATELY AND SO LOUD, they came off the image after a second.
it is a breath of fresh air to be watching a tech announcement video and be nearly 30 minutes in and i don't know if they'd mentioned AI at all?

oftentimes I wonder what my life/personality would have been if money scarcity had not been such a driving force in my development. Obviously got stupid lucky and enjoyed computers in a time when it was profitable to be doing that, but maybe I didn't get sucked into the allure/profit of the web.
A data centre is usually treated as a grid problem: a large, growing electricity load. In Finland it's becoming a heat asset. Fortum has switched on two industrial heat pump plants that will recover waste heat from neighbouring data centres from next year. www.pv-magazine.com/2026/05/07/l...

I know it's very consumerists but the US would do well to make homes more disposable. Dismantle/rebuild should be made much cheaper and easier to do than remodel/addition. There are very very few truly important historic homes. Homes should be consumed and replaced.
